After posting easily the most disappointing result in the first round of World Cup group stage games, Spain must rebound quickly on Sunday at Noon ET against Saudi Arabia in Atlanta.

Despite being favoured at -1200 to win, Spain, the reigning European champions, were held to a scoreless draw by tiny Cape Verde, which was making its World Cup debut.

Now it faces Saudi Arabia, which pushed Uruguay to the brink in a 1-1 draw. Abdulelah Al-Amri’s goal in the 41st minute nearly held up for the Green Falcons, who have a recent history of knocking down giants.

Spain FIFA World Cup Odds and News

All eyes will be on teen sensation Lamine Yamal, who had 24 goals and 17 assists in all competitions for La Liga champion Barcelona. He suffered a hamstring injury in April that sidelined him for the rest of the club season, as well as Spain’s World Cup warm-up friendlies.

The 18-year-old came on in the 71st minute against Cape Verde, and the energy increased exponentially despite no winner being tallied.

The Spaniards are no longer the betting favourites to win the World Cup. They were +450 before the Cape Verde match, but +550 afterwards, as coach Luis de la Fuente’s side now trails France (+400).

Spain is still +260 to reach the final, but bear in mind that it has not advanced past the Round of 16 since it won the World Cup in 2010.

Saudi Arabia FIFA World Cup Odds and News

Although the Saudis gained a critical point from their match with Uruguay, their chances of qualifying out of the group actually dipped. They are now +140 to advance to the knockout stage, trailing even Cape Verde (-110).

Coach Georgios Donis’s side is a confident group, but will it be able to weather another 10-3 disparity in shots, as it did against Uruguay?

Goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais was Saudi Arabia’s star with nine saves, and he needs to be up to the task again on Sunday.

Spain vs. Saudi Arabia Player Odds and Props

Yamal and Ferran Torres, who struck the bar against Cape Verde, are both -105 to score an anytime goal.

Al Owais, meanwhile, may be the match’s safest player prop bet, as he is listed at -145 to make five or more saves.

World Cup 2026 Bracket and Futures

Spain is still the overwhelming favourite to win Group H at -310. Saudi Arabia now has the lowest odds to do so at +2000. If you think they can pull off an Argentina 2022-type upset, you may wish to take a flier there.

The Green Falcons are also listed at +450 to finish as the runners-up. Spain is now listed at +330 to do just that. Stranger things have happened.

The Saudis are now the favourites to finish bottom of the group at -115.

Spain vs. Saudi Arabia Score Prediction

Several sides need to play with offensive urgency in this second round of games, including Spain. Torres, Rodri, and the rest of the squad to come out firing. If Yamal starts, look for him to make some noise early.

The Spaniards need to post a convincing victory, and they will. Take Spain to win, 4-1.
