Spain vs. Belgium Quarterfinal Prediction: FIFA World Cup Odds

Belgium has repeatedly remarked that its opponent in the Round of 16, the United States, was not up to its level. The Red Devils proved that with a crushing 4-1 victory over the Yanks on Monday. Now, Belgium itself must step up.

Coach Rudi Garcia’s side takes on Spain in a World Cup quarterfinal on Friday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, at 3:00 PM ET.

Charles De Ketelaere had a first-half brace in the win over the Americans. He is now one of four Belgians who have scored multiple goals in this World Cup.

Meanwhile, Spain enters the quarterfinals almost as an afterthought, despite their relative dominance. To be fair, this is the first time La Roja have advanced this far in a World Cup since winning it all in 2010. However, coach Luis de la Fuente’s squad are the reigning Euro title holders, and they have glided through this tournament with five clean sheets.

Spain knocked off Portugal, 1-0, on Monday thanks to a Mikel Merino winner in the second-half added time.

Spain FIFA World Cup odds and news

The Spaniards were the favourites heading into the World Cup, but quickly dropped behind France after a scoreless draw with Cape Verde to open the group stage. La Roja have since blanked Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, Austria, and Portugal.

Mikel Oyarzabal leads Spain with four goals. He is in a three-way tie for fifth for the Golden Boot. He is considered a long shot at +4000, but all it would take is a couple of braces if the Spaniards continue to advance. Missing out on easy finishes, as he did late against the Portuguese, won’t help his cause.

Teenage phenom Lamine Yamal has been held to one goal, but he has steadily progressed from an injury suffered near the end of the club season.

However, where the Group H champions have made their bones this tournament is on defence. Aymeric Laporte, Pau Cubarsí, Marc Cucurella and Pedro Porro have made life relatively easy for Unai Simon, who has nearly as many clean sheets (5) as saves (6) so far.

Spain still trails France as World Cup favourites at +350 odds. A win against the Red Devils, and Spain can potentially settle that question once and for all against the French in the semifinals if they advance against Morocco.

Belgium FIFA World Cup odds and news

Belgium seemingly took a while to realize it was playing in the World Cup. A 1-1 draw with Egypt, followed by a scoreless match with Iran failed to impress, and a 5-1 clobbering against an overmatched New Zealand did nothing to increase the faith.

The Red Devils were overrun by Senegal for most of their Round of 32 matchup. But Romelu Lukaku and Youri Tielemans scored three minutes apart late in regulation, and Tielemans tallied the winner on a penalty kick in just about the last play of the match to see the Belgians advance.

And then Monday’s decimation of a surprisingly intimidated, but not surprisingly overmatched American side. Lukaku added his squad-leading third goal late.

Tielemans and Leandro Trossard, who has two goals and two assists, have been exceptional throughout the tournament. Jeremy Doku and veteran Kevin De Bruyne are pulling the strings, and Thibaut Courtois has made 10 saves in five games, although he has also conceded five goals.

The Belgians are one of the outsiders to win their first World Cup of the remaining eight teams, at +3300 odds.

Spain vs. Belgium player odds and props

Oyarzabal, who has two braces this World Cup, is +120 to score anytime against Belgium, while Yamal is +150. Simon is +120 to make 3+ saves.

Lukaku is +215 to add to his three goals. Trossard is an attractive option at +700 to record his third assist of this tournament, and Courtois is -120 to make 4+ saves.

World Cup 2026 bracket and futures

Spain is +155 to reach the World Cup Final, while Belgium is +1100, the biggest longshot at this point.

The Red Devils are one step away from their second World Cup semifinal appearance in the past three tournaments, but can they get past a Spain side markedly better than any they’ve faced here?

Spain vs. Belgium score prediction

The Spanish have been lurking in the relative shadows this World Cup. While favourites France, Messi-led Argentina, “It’s Coming Home” England, and the three host nations have dominated the headlines, all La Roja have done is outscore their opponents, 9-0.

The boldest prediction here is that Spain will concede for the first time, but take the Spaniards to advance with a 2-1 victory in regulation.
