After a disappointing group stage at the 2022 World Cup, and scoring two goals in the process, uber-talented Uruguay should be ready for the opening whistle on Monday evening when they face Saudi Arabia in a Group H opener at 6 p.m. ET.

That’s a good thing for viewers because the Green Falcons own the greatest international upset in recent memory, knocking off eventual World Cup champion Argentina in their opener four years ago.

Saudi Arabia FIFA World Cup Odds and News

This is the seventh time Saudi Arabia has reached the World Cup since its first appearance in 1994 in the United States. Although they recently underwent a managerial change, from Herve Renard to Georgios Donis, this is a confident group.

That may not be enough in a group with both Uruguay and World-Cup-favourite Spain.

Salem Al-Dawsari, who scored twice in Qatar, and Saleh Al-Sheri, who also scored against Argentina, return. Goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais is supported by a disciplined, counter-attacking style.

At +3000, the Green Falcons have the third-best odds to win Group H. There are no major injuries to report, but squad depth will be a concern against top teams.

Uruguay FIFA World Cup Odds and News

La Celeste are incredibly exciting and maddeningly infuriating at the same time. The hope is that much of the latter departs with Luis Suarez’s retirement from the national team. Edinson Cavani is no longer here, either.

Led by Argentine Marcelo Bielsa, Uruguay bring a lethal mix of tactical intensity and star power. Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde, Darwin Núñez and a solid defensive core featuring Ronald Araujo — if fit — have the squad perfectly positioned to advance.

Uruguay are +135 to reach the Round of 16 and +300 to reach the quarterfinals, and that is their most likely sweet spot.

Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay Player Odds and Props

Darwin Nunez is +140 to score anytime against Saudi Arabia. Giorgian De Arrascaeta, who had a brace in six minutes in a 2-0 triumph over Ghana to close the 2022 group stage disappointment, is +205 to score anytime on Monday.

Al Shehr and Al Dawsari are both +550 to score anytime if you fancy them to potentially shock the world again.

World Cup 2026 Bracket and Futures

Both teams are in Group H with Spain (-475 to win the group) and World Cup newcomers Cape Verde (+6000). Uruguay sits at +400, and Saudi Arabia is at +3000.

Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay Score Prediction

Saudi Arabia won’t sneak up on anyone this time around. Take La Celeste to post a clinical 2-0 victory.
