The top two Group E sides meet in Toronto on Saturday, with Germany facing Ivory Coast at 4 p.m. ET.

Die Mannschaft had an easy go of it in a 7-1 dismantling of tiny Curacao, although the game was tied at 1 midway through the first half. Arsenal’s Kai Havertz had a brace, and six total Germans found the back of the net overall.

Ivory Coast had to sweat out a 1-0 victory over Ecuador, which hit the post three times in their opening clash before Manchester United’s Amad Diallo tallied a 90th-minute winner that greatly increased the Elephants’ chances of advancing beyond the group stage.

Germany FIFA World Cup odds and news

This is the redemption World Cup for the Germans after failing to exit the group stage in both 2018 and 2022. Coach Julian Nagelsmann’s side looked dominant on Sunday, but the gimme match is behind them. Ivory Coast are just the kind of opponent (Japan in 2022, Mexico and South Korea in 2018) to stun Die Mannschaft at this stage recently.

Havertz, fresh off a Premier League triumph, looked crisp up top, while Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz led a handful of Germans who expertly moved the ball around all game. Germany held a drastic 4.05-0.41 xG advantage over Curacao. You won’t see that kind of disparity for them moving forward in this tournament.

Manuel Neuer, Germany’s 40-year-old goalkeeper making his first international start in two years after coming out of retirement, made one save, but he also allowed a goal.

Germany is the overwhelming favourite to win the group at -370.

Ivory Coast FIFA World Cup odds and news

The Elephants are making their fourth World Cup appearance, but first since 2014, and Didier Drogba is long retired. But the world got an extended glimpse of the Elephants’ next potential international superstar in dynamic 19-year-old wing Yan Diomande. The electric Liverpool target this summer dazzled while baffling Ecuador’s defence.

This is a typical physical Ivory Coast group prone to occasional lapses in the back. Quite frankly, the Elephants should have lost the opener to Ecuador by one or even two goals. Germany won’t fail to convert those same chances in the final third.

But in beating Ecuador, and with Cuaraco still in the fixtures, the Ivory Coast has already done its job. Six points will get them out of the group. That’s why they are now -230 to finish as the Group E runners-up, as well as -5000 to qualify for the knockout stage for the first time in the country’s history.

Germany vs. Ivory Coast player odds and props

Havertz was looking good in the early race for the Golden Boot, until Messi’s hat trick on Tuesday. He is +155 to score an anytime goal, and he is always a good bet for a penalty.

Other Ivory Coast players have better odds, but we’re riding the Diomande hype train. He was close to finding the back of the net multiple times against Ecuador. He is +475 to do so against Germany.

World Cup 2026 bracket and futures

Germany is now +165 to reach the quarterfinals, and +275 to reach the semifinals. Ivory Coast is now -175 to be eliminated in the last 32, and +240 to get knocked out in the Round of 16.

Germany vs. Ivory Coast score prediction

Ivory Coast is going to send an early uppercut, but then get caught up in whether it should pack it in and play behind the ball, which is not its style. Look for Germany to capitalize on multiple miscues by the Elephants and win 3-1.
