Canada started their tournament off with an underwhelming 4-2 win over Great Britain, but answered back with a dominant 5-1 victory over Denmark on Sunday. Austria also faced the Danes, losing 5-1, and they’re coming into Tuesday off a wild 6-5 loss against Switzerland.

It’s a 3:20 p.m. ET puck drop at Prague Arena in Czechia on Tuesday. Canada is favoured to win by 5.0 goals on the World Championship odds, with the game total set at 6.5.

Canada vs. Austria World Championship Odds

The puckline hasn’t shifted significantly, although Canada went from opening at -5.5 to -5.0. The total of 6.5 remains the same, with the Over priced at -130 and the Under at -105. The moneyline says all you need to know about what oddsmakers think as the Canadians are massive -10,000 favourites and the Austrians are +3300 underdogs.

The three-way results again list Canada at -10,000, while a tie at the end of regulation is +1550 and Austria winning in regulation is +5000. If you’re trying to make it worthwhile to bet on Canada, the best value play is to take the Canadians to win by five or more goals at -155.

Team Canada

Connor Bedard paced Canada again with his second two-goal outing of the tournament on Sunday against Denmark. Dylan Cozens, Dawson Mercer and Pierre-Luc Dubois also scored in the win. It’s only been two games, but it’s worth noting Bedard, who is second in tournament scoring with five points (4G, 1A), is the only Canadian player in the top 27 scorers of the tournament. Jordan Binnington made 20 saves on Monday in his first start of the World Championship. Joel Hofer stopped 13 of 15 shots in the tournament-opener against Great Britain. Nico Daws is also on the roster, but Binnington and Hofer will likely split the starts.

Team Austria

Austria got off to an early two-goal lead, but couldn’t hold things down against Switzerland on Sunday. Nico Hischier’s third goal of the game in the last minute of regulation prevented the Austrians from picking up any points. Lukas Haudum scored twice for Austria, while Clemens Unterweger, Paul Huber and Benjamin Baumgartner also found the back of the net. Haudum (2G, 1A) and Unterweger (1G, 2A) lead the team with three points. Former NHLer Reto Berra was pulled after allowing four goals on just 12 shots in the first two periods. Akira Schmid surrendered one goal on five shots in the third period. Marco Rossi of the Minnesota Wild is the only current NHL player on Austria’s roster. Rossi has one assist in the tournament.
