Canada vs. Switzerland Semifinal Prediction: Olympic Women’s Hockey Odds

This game is set to start at 11:10pm ET on Sunday. Canada comes into the semifinal round of the 2022 Olympic Winter games as the number 1-ranked team in the world.

The Beijing Olympics Women’s hockey tournament takes place from Feb. 2-16 and is played at the National Indoor Stadium and Wukesong Sports Centre.

Sarah Fillier, Laura Stacey, Natalie Spooner and Blayre Turnbull each scored twice in the opener, with Spooner and Thompson each coming away with five points. The Canadians tied their all-time Olympic record for shots on net with 70.

Canada beat the Swiss 4-0 in the semifinals of the World Championships, and are unbeaten in every one of their 14 matchups against Switzerland.

Team Canada earned their semifinal spot in this tourney by clobbering Sweden in the quarterfinals on Friday morning. The 11-0 win was a group effort, with the team earning points from a whopping 16 different players.

Brianne Jenner and Sarah Fillier are battling it out for top scorer of these Olympics, and the game against Sweden saw them each get a hat trick.

Captain Marie-Philip Poulin and Sarah Nurse each got four helpers and Claire Thompson’s three assists afforded her an Olympic record for most points (9) by a defensive player in a single tournament.

Team Switzerland

Switzerland will have to face Canada again after beating the the Russian Olympic Committee in an exciting quarterfinal game on Saturday. With just under three minutes left in regulation time, moments after the Russian team had tied the game up, the Swiss got one in the ROC net to take back the lead, and then sealed the deal with an empty netter after the Russians pulled their goalie. Final score: 4-2.

The Russians outshot Switzerland in their loss, 36-24, so it was the excellent play of Swiss goalie Andrea Braendli that helped them earn the win and the ticket to the semifinal rematch with Canada.
