The Minnesota Wild are in Edmonton to take on the Oilers on Tuesday night at Rogers Place.

Both teams enter with plenty of momentum. The Wild have won four of their last five games, while the Oilers have won six of their last seven contests.

With both teams playing well and plenty of electrifying talent on both sides, this should be a tremendous matchup to watch unfold.

Wild vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

Oddsmakers are expecting a closely-contested battle, but are giving a slight edge to the Oilers. Edmonton enters with moneyline odds of -135, while Minnesota is +115 to win.

On the puckline, Oilers -1.5 is valued at +185, while Wild +1.5 is -225. The game total is set at 6.5, with odds of +100 on the Over and -120 on the Under.

At +100, Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl has the shortest odds of any player to score a goal in this game. Draisaitl is two years removed from leading the NHL with 52 goals. He potted 35 goals last season, and has found the back of the net six times through eight games to start the new campaign.

With odds of +125, Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov has the shortest odds of any Wild player to score a goal in the contest. Kaprizov scored 45 goals last season, and leads the NHL with 10 goals through nine games so far this season.

Minnesota Wild

The Wild own a record of 6-2-1 so far this season. Minnesota is a perfect 4-0-0 at home, but just 2-2-1 on the road. They are on the road in this one, and have a tough assignment going up against Connor McDavid and company.

Kaprizov paces the Wild with 15 points on an NHL-leading 10 goals and five assists. Kaprizov’s hot start could put him on track to exceed the 100-point mark for the first time since he posted 108 back in 2021-22.

Defenseman Quinn Hughes is second on the team with 12 points and leads the Wild with 10 assists. Hughes is set to become a free agent on July 1, so there has been plenty of discussion about whether he will stay in Minnesota or look to play elsewhere at season’s end. It will also be interesting to see if the Wild try to trade him before he hits the free agent market.

In net, goaltender Jesper Wallstedt is off to a strong start with a 1.99 goals-against average and .922 save percentage through eight appearances. He is slated to get the starting nod in this matchup against Edmonton.

Edmonton Oilers

After a first-round playoff exit last season, the Oilers brought in Mike Babcock to be the franchise’s next head coach. Year 1 of his tenure is off to a strong 6-1-1 start, and the Oilers are playing well on both ends of the ice.

Unsurprisingly, Connor McDavid continues to shine. He’s already racked up a whopping 23 points through eight games, and has a rating of +19. Evan Bouchard (16), Leon Draisaitl (14), and Vasily Podkolzin (11) also have double-digit points on the young season.

Goaltending has been a major weakness for Edmonton over the last few seasons, but so far in 2026-27, goaltending hasn’t been a major issue. Devon Levi could be emerging as Edmonton’s No. 1 netminder, as he is 4-1-0 with a 2.83 goals-against average and .898 save percentage through five appearances.

NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Wild vs. Oilers?

Both of these teams have plenty of playmaking ability in the offensive zone. Goals shouldn’t be hard to come by in this one.

With Edmonton’s top players all playing at their best, the Oilers’ offensive ceiling is a tad higher than Minnesota’s right now. Plus, the Oilers are getting reliable goaltending and playing well defensively to start the season.

Minnesota is also struggling on the road this season, which puts them in a tough spot. Look for the Oilers to find the win column in this one.
