Dallas Stars vs. Ottawa Senators Prediction, NHL Odds
The Stars and Senators enter this game in similar form. They are both 6-1-3 in their last 10 games with four home wins and two road wins. With their recent stretches, both teams find themselves in the top three of their respective division. While there is a lot of hockey to play, the Stars and Senators are in tough divisions and would each like to take these two points that may prove critical later in the season.
Both as playoff teams last season, Dallas and Ottawa have unfinished business as their windows to win are open. They know the road to return to the playoffs isn’t easy, and thus will bring a strong effort into every game. Regardless of the winner, this matchup makes for an entertaining game and great viewing.
The Senators are slim -120 favourites to win on the NHL odds, with the total set at 6.0.
Stars vs. Senators NHL Betting Odds
As mentioned, these teams have had very similar success early on this season. They have done it in slightly different ways, but they have one thing in common. The game totals in both teams’ games have been on the high side. The Over has cashed in four out of the Stars’ last five games, as well as in six out of the Senators’ eight games.
The home-road splits of both the Stars and Senators add intrigue to this matchup. Dallas is 4-1-2 on the road and Ottawa is 5-2-1 at home. Typically, in a game with a thin margin of error between similar teams, the home team gets a bit more of a bump because of home ice advantage. That could be neutralized tonight.
Dallas Stars
The Stars have been a Western Conference powerhouse for nearly a decade. Through a month of this season, it appears they will be a force to be reckoned with once again. This is a deep, battle-tested team that can beat any opponent on any given night.
While the Stars are a good team once again, with expectations of making the playoffs, they are not without flaws. They have had a stretch in which they were winless in four games, and they rank in the bottom half of the league in both goals scored and allowed per game. Fortunately, Dallas’ power play has been extremely strong. But the Stars will need to be a bit more consistent if they are going to contend for the Central.
Ottawa Senators
The Senators were dealt a brutal blow when their captain, best player, and heart and soul of the team, Brady Tkachuk, sustained a long-term injury in their third game of the season. Despite the loss, Ottawa has been able to tread water in the meantime.
They have played well recently at home and on the road. They enter this game having won consecutive games against the Flyers and Mammoth, and have not lost in regulation in five games. The Senators are getting the job done right now with depth. They will need that depth to beat a good Stars team at home.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Stars vs. Senators?
This one has the makings of a high-scoring close game. The Stars are narrow favourites, and the Over is appealing.
In terms of the money line, the Senators are a slightly more reliable play. The plus money gives good value to a home team in strong form. Their wins over good teams, Philadelphia and Utah, entering this game, look better than Dallas’ recent form against lower quality or at least cold teams. Look for a 4-3 Senators win.
