Dallas Stars vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction, NHL Odds
In a potential Western Conference playoff preview, the Oilers are -135 on the NHL odds.
Stars vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds
This is the third and final regular-season meeting between the teams and if the first two are any indication, bet over the total of 6.5 goals. Dallas won the first matchup in Edmonton 6-2 on Nov. 5 and the Oilers prevailed in the most recent game 6-3 on Dec. 21 in Dallas.
Jason Robertson (1G, 3A) and Jamie Benn (3G, 1A) lead the Stars with four points each – Benn had a hat trick in the team’s victory. Joe Pavelski (1G, 2A) and Roope Hintz (1G, 2A) each have three points. Jake Oettinger is one of the league’s better netminders but allowed five goals in his loss, while backup Scott Wedgewood won his start.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (1G, 3A) leads Edmonton with four points and Mattias Janmark (2G, 1A) has three. Connor McDavid has a goal and assist. Stuart Skinner won his start in net and Jack Campbell lost his.
The total has gone over in the past four meetings overall.
Dallas Stars
The Stars lead the Central Division – and have easily the best goals differential in it – but Minnesota and maybe Colorado are still within striking distance. Dallas is 3-1 on a six-game trip following a 5-2 upset loss in Vancouver on Tuesday. Do note that was the second of a back-to-back, and the team gave Matt Murray (not the Maple Leaf) his second career start in net and it didn’t go well. Should be Jake Oettinger (29-9-10, 2.40 GAA, .920 SV) here. Wyatt Johnston (18th of season) and Jamie Benn (29th) had the goals Tuesday. The team played without two top forwards in Mason Marchment (12G, 19A) and Tyler Seguin (17G, 25A) and neither is expected here. The Stars are 0-5 in their past five after scoring two goals or fewer in their previous game.
Edmonton Oilers
Edmonton returned from a four-game trip on Tuesday and spanked Ottawa 6-3. Leon Draisaitl was the No. 1 star with two goals, while Connor McDavid had a goal and assist. In doing so, McDavid reached 129 points, the most of any player in the salary-cap era – Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov held the mark of 128 in the 2018-19 campaign. Draisaitl reached 100 points with his two-goal night, the fourth time in his career reaching triple digits. The German-born Draisaitl became the sixth player born outside of North America with four or more 100-point seasons in NHL history. That dynamic duo also became the first two players to reach the 100-point mark last season. It’s the second time in NHL history that the same teammates were the first two players to 100 points in consecutive seasons: Phil Esposito and Bobby Orr of the Bruins in 1973-74 and 1974-75. Winger Zach Hyman (29G, 43A) was out Tuesday for undisclosed reasons, and centre Ryan McLeod (11G, 11A) left injured. The Oilers are 4-1 in their past five at home.
