Stars vs. Golden Knights Game 4 Prediction: Stanley Cup Playoffs Odds
The top-seeded Dallas Stars have answered back to make it a brand new series ahead of Game 4 with the Vegas Golden Knights. Dallas’ overtime win Saturday night cut their series deficit to 2-1 while also continuing the trend of the road team winning. Wyatt Johnston was the overtime winner in Game 3, scoring his second of the night.
The elite talent on both sides of the ice have come to play in this series. For Dallas, Johnston’s on the board with his two goals and linemate Jason Robertson is up to a team-high four points. Jack Eichel’s at five points to lead all Vegas skaters and this all with the goalies on both sides elevating their play, headlined by Logan Thompson’s 43 saves for the Golden Knights Saturday.
Puck drop for Game 4 at T-Mobile Arena is at 9:30 p.m. EDT and oddsmakers have given Dallas the slightest moneyline edge at -115, with the total set at 5.5 on the NHL odds.
Stars vs. Golden Knights NHL Betting Odds
It took six tries but the Dallas Stars have now defeated the Vegas Golden Knights this NHL season. The Stars are now 27-10-5 away from home on the entire campaign which is tied for the NHL lead in road wins.
The under hit for the second time this series and has now hit in 11 of these teams last 16 battles. Neither team had reached 30 shots in a game until Game 3, a feat that both hit with the overtime period. Jack Eichel leads Vegas with 11 shots, and Wyatt Johnston leads the series with 12.
Vegas is currently -200 to win the series. The most likely result is Golden Knights in six, listed at +275. A Stars in six result is +550 but would require them to win three consecutive games.
Dallas Stars
Wyatt Johnston led Dallas in goals this season and the 20-year-old had his playoff coming out party in Game 3, firing a game-high eight shots on net while both opening and finishing the game’s scoring. Peter DeBoer put his lines in a blender for Game 3, moving up Johnston to the top line with Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz — a trio that’s likely to stay intact moving forward.
Defenceman Miro Heiskanen scored his first goal of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Game 3 and has a point in all three games so far. Heiskanen’s playing nearly 30 minutes a night in the playoffs.
Jake Oettinger saw over 25 shots for the first time this series and played great, turning away 32 of 34 Vegas shots and came up with some big stops right before overtime.
Vegas Golden Knights
It wasn’t going to be an easy series for Vegas but the lack of offensive production outside their top line isn’t doing them any favours. The top line of Jack Eichel (five points), Jonathan Marchessault (three points), and Ivan Barbashev (two points) are the only three Vegas forwards with more than a point this series. And six Vegas forwards are still off the scoresheet entirely.
The Eichel–Marchessault—Barbashev trio has been fantastic so far though, as has trade deadline acquisition Noah Hanifin on defence. Hanifin and Brayden McNabb both have three points as D-men, with McNabb scoring then assisting on Eichel’s goal in Game 3.
Bruce Cassidy’s started to mix up the lines too, splitting up Tomas Hertl and Mark Stone on the second line and moving up Brett Howden to Hertl’s spot.
