Stars vs. Golden Knights Game 3 Prediction: Stanley Cup Playoffs Odds

Vegas showed in Game 1 and 2 why they are a championship caliber team, stealing two road wins with the usual suspects leading the charge. Jonathan Marchessault scored in both wins, Jack Eichel’s up to four playoff points in the two games, and deadline acquisitions Noah Hanifin and Tomas Hertl have also both scored.

The Stars were a juggernaut from top to bottom in the regular season but now need four wins in their next five games, with a minimum of two at Vegas, in order to avoid a failure of a first-round exit. Game 3 at T-Mobile Arena in Vegas goes at 10:30 p.m. EDT with the oddsmakers giving Vegas the slightest edge at -115 to win the game, and the total back at 5.5 on the NHL odds.

Stars vs. Golden Knights NHL Betting Odds

Vegas’ Game 2 victory has completely swayed this series. The Golden Knights are now -450 to win the series and also +250 to sweep as the No. 8 seed in the Stanley Cup playoffs. A Dallas comeback series win is at +350 odds, and Dallas in six games is the longest odds at +1150.

The Golden Knights are now a perfect 5-0 against the Stars this season (including the regular season). Home ice is a definite advantage for Vegas as they’re 6-1 overall in their last seven home contests and 27-12-2 on the season. Dallas was tied for the most road wins in the NHL this season at 26 and are 8-1 in their last nine road outings.

Dallas Stars

Head coach Pete DeBoer is optimistic both Mason Marchment and Radek Faksa (injured in Game 2) will be available for Saturday’s Game 3. Dallas is well-suited when it comes to sustaining any injuries, as forwards Craig Smith and Ty Dellandrea have served as healthy scratches to begin this series.

Jake Oettinger had a bounce-back performance in Game 2 by allowing two goals on 25 shots along with some big-time saves, but the Stars offence faltered with 21 total shots and zero in the game’s final 5:37. Jason Robertson has goals in each game for Dallas but its the likes of Roope Hintz, Matt Duchene, and Joe Pavelski who are pointless so far. All three have been past playoff performers and it’s fair to say Dallas’ season relies on whether they produce or not.

Vegas Golden Knights

The duo of Jonathan Marchessault and Jack Eichel played a large role in Vegas’ Stanley Cup run a season ago and they’re back where they left off. Eichel fed Marchessault for a tap-in goal to respond back to a 1-0 deficit in Game 2, and Eichel sealed the victory with an empty-netter via a Marchessault dish.

The Golden Knights have invested heavily during these past two trade deadlines and they keep paying off. Ivan Barbashev, last year’s deadline acquisition who had 18 playoff points a season ago, made the lead-up pass on the first Marchessault–Eichel goal. And 2024 acquisition Noah Hanifin registered the game-winning goal in Game 2 and is up to three points so far and Tomas Hertl also has a goal in the series.
