Stars vs. Canucks Prediction: NHL Betting Odds
The Stars are just two points back of the St. Louis Blues and four points back of the Nashville Predators.
On Saturday, the Stars will visit a Vancouver Canucks team that’s faded of late. They were 24-22-6 on February 2nd and were in playoff contention but since then, they have just nine wins in their last 26 games. Can the Stars pick up the two points or will Vancouver surprise?
Stars vs Canucks Betting Analysis
Dallas will enter Saturday night with a 19-17-3 record on the road so far this season. However, the Stars have been red hot away from home of late with seven straight road wins. Dallas is also 5-1 in its last six games as a favorite on the road.
Vancouver is 18-16-3 on home ice so far this season. The Canucks are just 4-8 in their last 12 against teams with a winning record and have dropped three of their last four at home to Dallas. Vancouver has also dropped each of its last four games played on Saturday night.
Dallas Stars
The Stars have quietly been one of the best teams in the NHL over the last month. They are 10-4-1 in their last 15 contests, including a three-game winning streak. That streak has spanned across Canada as they started in Winnipeg, went to Calgary, then Edmonton and now head to Vancouver.
Tyler Seguin has been red hot with 16 points in 14 games in the month of March. Meanwhile, goaltender Anton Khudobin has picked up the slack with Ben Bishop injured, allowing a combined three goals in back-to-back wins. It should help that the Canucks are struggling at the offensive end, scoring eight goals in their last four games.
Vancouver Canucks
It’s a case of too little, too late for a Canucks side that has shown flashes at time this season. Vancouver put together three straight wins to keep its playoff hopes alive but then dropped three in a row to fall out of the Wild Card conversation. The Canucks stole a shootout win over the Stars the last time these teams met on March 17th. However, Vancouver lost 2-1 to Dallas on home ice earlier in the year and now gets them at a time when they are absolutely on fire.
The arrival of top prospect defenceman Quinn Hughes has Canucks fans buzzing about the future of the franchise. This is especially true with rookie Elias Pettersson the favorite to win the Calder trophy after leading Vancouver with 27 goals and 65 points in 67 games. The Canucks have one of the best prospect pools in the NHL right now, so maybe they do their best to finish the season on a high. They have an opportunity to take advantage of a tired Stars team at the end of a Canadian road trip that’s taken them through four games in six days. Those tired legs could lead to the Canucks stealing a win here.
