Ottawa Senators vs. Nashville Predators Prediction, NHL Odds

The Predators are just three points outside a playoff spot, but face a two-game losing streak.

These teams have been just okay entering this game. If either is going to be playing meaningful games come spring, the two points in this game will likely prove important. Both teams will bring an urgent effort in this one.

Senators vs. Predators NHL Betting Odds

This is nearly a toss-up and the NHL odds are reflective. Ottawa is -115 on the money line and Nashville is -105. However, the Predators are listed as -1.5 on the puck line with +220 odds. The game total is 6.0, with the over being favoured at -120 odds and the under listed at +100.

Both teams have 10 points in their last 10 games and have done so in fairly similar fashion. Ottawa is 4-4-2 in their last 10 and 2-2-1 both at home and on the road. Nashville is 5-5-0 in their last 10, including 3-2 at home and 2-3 on the road. More recent results bode better for the Predators as ultimately, the Senators have three wins in their last nine games to Nashville’s five wins. Nashville has also won 8 out of their last 11 at home.

Ottawa Senators

Ottawa may have a winning record, but at no point has it felt like they found momentum or their identity as a team. They have just one three-game winning streak and one four-game winning streak. Otherwise, they have either traded wins and losses or caught losing streaks.

This is a very high-ceiling team, as evidenced by their playoff appearance last year. For the most part, this is the same roster. Ottawa possesses a phenomenal mix of young talent with veteran experience and production all around the roster. If this team is going to crack the postseason again, they need their horses to play more consistently and more cohesively.

Nashville Predators

The Predators have had much more of a rollercoaster arc to their season. Nashville was brutal through the first 2 months of the season, but since American Thanksgiving week, Nashville is 17-9-0 – catapulting them into the wild-card relevance. Nashville built their roster largely with long-tenured, productive NHL players as opposed to young, unproven talent.

That strategy has finally reaped rewards, as their veterans have performed incredibly. Ryan O’Reilly has 47 points in 49 games, including five goals in their last five games. Roman Josi has 10 points in their last five games. Filip Forsberg and Steven Stamkos have 19 and 21 goals, respectively. This team has new life thanks to their “old guys.”

NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Senators vs. Predators?

What gives the Predators more appeal in this one is home-ice advantage. Nashville is 8-3-0 in their last 11 played at home with wins over Colorado, Toronto, Washington, and Edmonton during that stretch.

Although these teams have been through a lot since, they met in October in a game which Nashville won 4-1. This time around, the Predators catch the Senators on the last of a three-game road trip. Ottawa’s inconsistency makes them a tough click on the road against a strong home team that is in solid form overall. Look for a narrow 3-2 Predators win.
