Senators vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

Tuesday night’s matchup at Rogers Place marks the second and final meeting of the season between these Canadian rivals. The Oilers skated to a 6-3 win in Ottawa back on February 11, and has now claimed victory in 10 of 12 head-to-head clashes. The total has reached seven or higher in four of the past seven games involving these clubs, fueling a 4-3 run for the OVER in totals betting.

Ottawa Senators

After returning to the playoff hunt with five straight wins, the Senators have returned to familiar inconsistent form on their current five-game western swing, losing three of their first four dates while getting outscored by a wide 19-8 margin over that stretch. Overall, Ottawa has lost five of seven on the road. Now pegged as a distant +1065 wager to claim a playoff spot, the Sens must now find a way to snap out of the scoring funk that has plagued them during their current junket. Brady Tkachuk has been particularly quiet, going pointless in his past four outings after maintaining a point-per-game pace since the end of January. Conversely, leading scorer Tim Stutzle has continued to contribute. Stutzle potted the lone goal in Sunday’s loss in Calgary, and has racked up six goals and 12 points over his past eight outings.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers are the highest scoring team in the NHL this season, but received a taste of their own medicine during their recent road trip. The Oil were outshot by a wide 38-26 while being outclassed by the Leafs in Saturday’s 7-4 defeat, which marked the second time in four games that the club allowed seven goals. Connor McDavid maintained his torrid offensive pace with a goal and two helpers in Saturday’s loss, and has racked up 13 goals and 30 points while finding his way onto the scoresheet in 12 of his past 13 outings. However, Leon Draisaitl has mustered just two points over his past two outings, and just one point at even strength over the past three games. Zach Hyman has also struggled, picking up just one total assist over his past five outings. But with the Senators struggling defensively as they close out a lengthy road trip with their third game in four nights, the Oilers’ big guns could be in for a big night.
