Tim Stutzel sniped the game-winner for his Senators with less than a minute left in the extra frame versus the Oilers. New York is looking to get back in the win column following back-to-back losses against Minnesota and Los Angeles.

The Islanders are -263 favourites to win on the NHL odds with a total of 5.5.

Senators vs. Islanders NHL Betting Odds

Anders Lee had a pair of goals in the Islanders 5-3 win over Ottawa the last time they faced off on December 7th. The Sens outshot New York  33-27 but Isles goalie Ilya Sorokin was sharp, stopping 30 shots in the win. They will wrap up this season series on March 22 in New York.

The Over is 8-2 in their past 10 head-to-head matchups with New York winning eight of them.

The Senators have put together a good stretch of hockey going 5-3-2 over their past 10 games, they have covered the spread in eight of those contests, bringing them to a 21-18 record ATS.

The Islanders have covered the spread only 15 times all season, putting them last in the league in that department. Low scoring hockey is typical for New York as they have only played the Over 13 times all year and only four times in the last 10.

Ottawa Senators

Tim Stutzle sniped the first overtime winner of his young career last night at home, beating the Edmonton Oilers 3-2. Thomas Chabot and Nick Paul scored in regulation and Matt Murray stopped 37 shots in net, giving the Sens their third win in five games.

Stutzle has been given tougher assignments due to injuries taking out two of the team’s top scorers – Drake Batherson and Josh Norris. The second-year forward has seen his time on ice increase by almost eight minutes over the past few weeks.

Ottawa will have a week break for the All-Star game, where captain Brady Tkachuk will represent his team.

New York Islanders

New York has now lost back-to-back games after falling short in Sunday’s 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild. Broc Nelson (14), Oliver Wahlstrom (9) and Ross Johnston (1) scored the goals for the Islanders, while in net Ilya Sorokin only stopped 17 of 21 shots.

Centre Casey Cizikas was a late scratch before the game due to illness and is questionable for tonight as well.

The Islanders have not lost three in a row since their disastrous 11 game losing streak at the beginning of the season.

The Islanders will play one more game with the Seattle Kraken tomorrow before taking a week long All-Star break.
