The Ottawa Senators have been a bad team all season but had been riding a little hot streak up until their latest contest.

The Sens four-game winning streak was snapped by the Florida Panthers but now they’ll try to get back on track and end the year on a high note.

The Philadelphia Flyers, who are also eliminated from the playoffs already, have lost eight out of their previous 10 games. However, they’re favored here. Are they worth a play?

Senators vs. Flyers NHL Betting Odds

The Senators are 4-1 straight up in their last five games overall and 6-2 straight up in their past eight matchups played on the road. However, they haven’t always been consistent against the Flyers, losing six out of their nine recent games against the organization. When it comes to the total, the over has cashed out in four of their last five games against the Flyers when they have been playing on the road.

As for Philadelphia, they are a measly 2-8 straight up in their last 10 games played to end this season. They are also just 1-5 straight up when playing at home. The Flyers have been more consistent when it comes to the total though. Just like Ottawa, the over has won in eight of their last 11 games against the Senators.

Ottawa Senators

It’s growing increasingly clear that their goaltenders have been getting better down the stretch.  You can thank a combination of Anton Forsberg and Filip Gustavsson for what appears to be a turnaround in the net – at least for now. Both of them had played in two games during their four game winning streak, with each putting up solid numbers in those wins. Gustavsson only allowed four goals in total throughout his recent two starts and both were shootout victories. The Senators don’t have much to play for at the moment now that they are eliminated but they have quietly been an effective team for bettors. They are actually 10-5-1 in their last 16 games. Considering they only have 32 wins on the season, it shows just how well they’ve played over the last month.

Philadelphia Flyers

This Flyers roster just can’t score at all right now. They are second to last in the NHL when it comes to goals per game at 2.57. The only team below them are the Arizona Coyotes. Thea team has lost eight of their last 10, scoring just 14 goals in the eight losses. It’s hard to win games when the output is that paltry.

Philadelphia has Travis Konecny leading the way with 52 points on the year, but somehow has compiled a -22 plus/minus. Looking back at their previous two games, the Flyers scored a total of one goal and allowed seven. Obviously, that just isn’t going to cut it. Given that this is their final game of the regular season, they are definitely going to look for some type of positive moving forward.
