Detroit is making their final stop on a four-game Western Conference swing, looking to go back to Michigan with a positive record after going 1-1-1 to open it. The Oilers will be their toughest opponent on the trip, sitting at 8-2-1 as the number one seed in the Pacific Division.

The NHL Odds have the Oilers as the -140 favourites on the road, with the OVER/UNDER set at an even 6 goals. Puck drop is set for 9:30 pm EST at United Center in Chicago.

Red Wings vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

The Oil and Wings each took a win in last year’s season series, hitting the UNDER in both matchups. This head-to-head has hit the UNDER in four straight games. Dylan Larkin had four points in last year’s two-game set. On the Oilers side, Zach Hyman scored a hat trick in his only game against the Wings, while Connor McDavid had four assists in two.

Detroit has been solid defensively this season, giving up just 2.91 goals per game, which is ninth best in the NHL. The Wings’ offence has been struggling through 11 games, scoring 2.55 goals per game. They are 5-6 on the OVER/UNDER so far and have only covered the spread once their past four games.

With all the firepower in the Oilers lineup, it is no surprise that they have hit the OVER in seven of their 11 games so far. Their past five games have featured six goals or more and are riding a four-game streak to the OVER. Edmonton is scoring a league-leading 4.63 goals per game, but ranks 27th defensively, giving up 3.55 goals a game.

Detroit Red Wings

After a tough 4-1 loss on Saturday night in Calgary, the Red Wings now sit at 4-4-3 in seventh place in the Atlantic Division. Andrew Copp (second) scored the lone goal for Detroit in the loss, while John Gibson stopped 21 of 25 in net. The Wings are now 1-1-2 on the road this season.

Gibson is getting the brunt of starts for Detroit, despite his terrible stat line. He has a 3-4-1 record, an .867 save percentage and a 3.44 goals-against average. Daniil Tarasov has had much better numbers as the backup with an impressive .940 save percentage and a 1.40 goals-against average. He has started just three games, but the starting job is definitely up for grabs.

Alex DeBrincat’s three-game point streak was broken on Saturday, but he has been red-hot to start the season. The Michigan native has 12 points (6G, 6A) through 11 games, earning him a fat new contract. He is on pace to set a career high in points, surpassing his 84-point campaign last season.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers had their three-game win streak broken on Saturday, taking a 7-2 thumping from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Leon Draisaitl scored both of the goals, bringing him to a tie for the league lead with 12. Connor McDavid assisted on both tallies as he continues his historic start to the season. Trista Jarry got the nod in goal for just the fourth time this season, soaking all seven goals on 31 shots.

The league’s top three point-getters are all Oilers. After 11 games, McDavid leads with 33, Draisaitl has 23, and defenceman Evan Bouchard is third with 21. McDavid is chasing his seventh Art Ross Trophy and is on pace for an astounding 252 points; Draisaitl is looking for his second Rocket Richard, on pace for over 90 goals; while Evan Bouchard is eyeing up his first Norris trophy.

Expect Devon Levi back in goal for Monday’s matchup, after a night off on Saturday. Levi has gotten the heavier workload with a 6-1 record.
