The Red Wings open a four-game road trip on Tuesday looking to generate more consistent results after posting consecutive wins just once while going 4-2-1 over their past seven games, capped by Saturday’s 4-3 victory over Vancouver.
The Oilers are set to hit the ice perched as -250 favourites on the Tuesday NHL odds, and sport short +100 puckline odds of claiming victory by OVER 1.5 goals. The Red Wings trail as +190 underdogs on the NHL moneyline, and -125 odds favour the total going OVER 6.5.

The NHL All-Star break proved to be a curse for the Oilers, who suffered their first defeat since December 19 in their first game of the unofficial second half of the season, and lost two of three overall. The Oil have struggled to contain opposing offences during their current 1-2-0 slide, allowing 10 total goals over that stretch. That marks a huge reversal after Edmonton allowed just 10 total goals over the final eight games of their recent 16-0-0 run. However, this team has been dominant on home ice, outscoring opponents by a combined 27-9 margin during their seven-game win streak.
The Red Wings have muscled their way into a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference during an impressive 11-3-2 run during which they have gone 5-1-0 on the road. However, the Red Wings have needed a late third-period goal, overtime, or a shooter to claim three of their recent five road victories, and have work to do to snap a middling 1-3 run in their past four dates with the Oilers, capped by a 3-2 home loss to Edmonton on January 11.

While Walman has impressed, top rearguard Moritz Seider has struggled. The sixth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft is pointless in two straight games and has picked up just one point over his past seven road dates. However, Seider has picked up a point in four of five all-time appearances against Edmonton, adding value to the +165 odds on the NHL player props of him tallying at least one point on Tuesday. The Red Wings will be without Robby Fabbri, who is away from the team for personal reasons.

After eking out a 5-3 victory in Anaheim on Friday on the strength of three unanswered goals in the final 12 minutes, the Oilers attack fell flat in Saturday’s loss to the Kings. Overall, the Oilers have scored just one total goal in the first 20 minutes over the past three games. The first-period marker by Connor McDavid in the team’s 3-1 loss in Vegas on February 6 also marked the Edmonton captain’s lone marker since the All-Star Break. Evander Kane could be poised to bust out after recording a hat trick against the Ducks. However, goals on home ice have come at a premium for Kane, who has bulged the twine just once in his past 10 appearances at Rogers Place.
