The Hurricanes get the nod as -210 home favourites on the Friday NHL odds, and are a short +115 puck line bet to claim victory by a multi-goal margin. The Red Wings trail as +170 underdogs, and the total is listed at 6.5.

The Red Wings have now seen four of their six recent wins come after trailing early, and have potted 13 of their 24 total goals during their current surge after 40 minutes.
However, the Red Wings can’t afford to spot Carolina an early lead on Friday after scoring just five total goals while losing three of their past four head-to-head clashes, capped by a 2-1 home loss on December 14, in which they never led. Lyon has been solid in the crease while going 5-0-1 in six starts this month, and has allowed just 10 goals on 135 total shots while posting four straight road victories. Carolina Hurricanes
A visit to Carolina proved to be a tonic for the Los Angeles Kings. Winless in their previous eight, the Kings dominated the Canes during a four-goal final frame to hand Carolina its first regulation loss in nine games. That marked the second straight third-period meltdown by the Hurricanes, who allowed the Penguins to force overtime with a third-period rally in Carolina’s narrow 3-2 win last Saturday. The Hurricanes supporting cast has led the team’s limited attack over the past two games. Jordan Martinook has scored in each of the past three games to go along with one assist over that stretch, and rearguard Jalen Chatfield has contributed a helper in each of the past two games. Sebastian Aho has racked up 18 total points over his past 10 games, but has failed to score in his past six outings. Martin Necas was also mired in a seven-game goal-scoring drought before getting sidelined with by a lower body injury on January 2, but could return to the lineup on Friday night.
