MacKinnon is the hottest player in the league, with at least a point in the last 10 games, pulling into a tie for first in the NHL with 105 points. If the Wings can contain the superstar, they can sweep this year’s season series with the Avs.

Puck drop from Ball Arena is set for 9:30 PM EST. from crypto.com Arena in LA. Our NHL odds have the Avalanche as the -200 Moneyline favourite with the OVER/UNDER set at 6 goals.

Red Wings vs. Avalanche NHL Betting Odds

The Avalanche have dominated the Wings for the past handful of seasons, beating them in 10 consecutive meetings before their first matchup this season. Detroit got some revenge just two weeks ago, taking down the Avs 2-1 in overtime on February 22nd for the first time since 2017.

Mackinnon scored Colorado’s lone goal while Dylan Larkin tied the game in the third period, before setting up Patrick Kane’s overtime winner in front of their hometown crowd.

This classic 90’s rivalry has been high-scoring in their recent meetings, playing the OVER 3-1-1 in their past five head-to-heads. Before the loss in the series opener, the Avs beat the Wings by three or more in four straight.

Detroit has been a solid bet to cover so far this season, posting an impressive 36-25 record ATS. They dropped their past two games, but their six-game heater before those two outings has them covering in five of the past eight.

The Wings and Avs have almost identical OVER/UNDER results this season at 34-26-1 and 34-26-3 respectively. Considering their history, this one could shape up to be a barn burner.

Despite those numbers, the Avs have played the UNDER in seven straight games now, not allowing more than three goals in any of their last 10.

Detroit Red Wings

Looking to bounce back after a pair of tough losses is difficult, but the Wings have had four days to rest playing their first game since Saturday afternoon. They hosted the best team in the NHL, the Florida Panthers and got handed a 4-0 beat-down. Detroit only managed 21 shots in the game, giving the Panthers’ goalie a pretty easy night, while former Panther Alex Lyon faced 37 shots from his former team and took his 10th loss of the season.

Perhaps the worst part about Saturday’s game was Wings captain Dylan Larkin going down with a lower-body injury. The 27-year-old leads the team in goals (26) and points (54) through 55 games. This is his second stint with an injury, after missing six games earlier this season due to a concussion.

Former member of the Colorado Avalanche J.T. Compher is expected to take the captain’s spot centring the team’s top line on Saturday night.

Colorado Avalanche

After a tough loss on the road in Nashville, the Avs returned to Denver on Monday night and completely dismantled the bottom-feeding Chicago Blackhawks for the second game in a row. Backup goalie Justus Annunen had his best performance of the season, stopping a career-high 37 shots and picking up his second shutout of the season. Nathan MacKinnon took over the game offensively, as he typically does on home ice. He got the offence rolling with the first goal of the game and ended with four points (2G 2A) pulling himself into a tie for the league lead with 105 points.

Mac torches opposing defences when they visit Ball Arena, scoring 25 goals and 40 assists in the 30 games he has played in front of the home crowd this season. He is as confident as we have ever seen him, with 20 points (7G 13A) in his last time games, while averaging a ridiculous 6.2 shots per game.
