Riding a 15-game heater after a dominant win over a bottom-feeding Chicago Blackhawks squad, the Oilers are two wins away from tying the 1992-93 Penguins with 17 straight wins for the NHL record.

The puck drop will drop at 4:00 PM EST. at Rogers Place in Vancouver. Our NHL odds have the Canucks as a heavy -220 favourite at home on Wednesday night, with the OVER/UNDER set at 6 goals.

Predators vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

The Preds beat the Oilers 5-2  in Edmonton back in November to even this year’s season series at one game apiece. It was Nashville’s Ryan O’Reilly’s hat trick that powered them to the victory dropping the Oilers’ record to 2-7-1 and forcing management to send goalie Jack Campbell down to the AHL.

Nashville has won two of the past three meetings, but Edmonton has dominated the head-to-head, 8-2 over the past 10. The meetings are usually high-scoring as well, not playing the UNDER in any of the past five.

Nashville is middle of the pack offensively at 3.02 goals per game (18th), middle of the pack defensively at 3.1 goals against per game (16th) and right in the middle of the NHL standings at 16th in the league. The offence has been especially slow over the past six games, where they have played the UNDER in every game, scoring just 12 times. They are now 19-24-5 on the OVER/UNDER for the season.

To no one’s surprise, goal scoring is the Oilers’ bread and butter again this season, scoring 3.5 goals per game, good for fourth in the league. What might come as a surprise though is how well they have been defensively throughout the 15-game win streak. They have not allowed more than three goals during its entirety and not more than two over the past 13. They have played the UNDER in nine straight, getting them to 18-23-3 O/U on the year.

Nashville Predators

The Predators went to Minnesota Thursday Night after dropping two in a row and three of their past four games desperate for a win to stay in the Western Conference’s final wildcard spot. Down 1-0 headed to the third, they came out flying with goals from Alexandre Carrier (4th) and Filip Forsberg (23rd) just 2:20 into the period to take the lead. Roman Josi would add his 10th of the season, which would stand as the game-winner as the Wild would score another before the final horn.

With two assists in the game, Ryan O’Reilly is on pace to have his best offensive season since 2018-19. He is now tied with Josi for second on the team with 42 points in 48 games.

Juuse Saros stopped 22 shots in the game, picking up his 19th win of the season. The Preds have been relying on him a ton lately, letting him start each of the past six games.

Saros will likely be back in goal on Saturday as they look to overtake the Kings for the first wildcard position.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers made their 15th straight victory look fairly easy Thursday night with a 3-0 win over the last-placed Chicago Blackhawks. After a scoreless first period, Connor McDavid (18th) got the Oilers on the board early in the second. He then set up Zach Hyman’s 29th goal of the campaign, putting Edmonton up 2-0, before scoring his second of the night, 19th of the season into the empty net, sealing the victory.

McDavid’s three-point night put him at 63 points on the season tying him for sixth in the league. He is still 21 points behind the leader and may not win his fourth straight Art Ross Trophy.

Calvin Pickard got the start for Edmonton, just his seventh of the season. He stopped all 27 shots for the shutout, the fifth of his career and his first since 2018-19.

The Oilers have climbed into third in the Pacific Division after a horrendous start that had fans thinking they would not make the playoffs. With a historic streak on the line, expect Stuart Skinner back in goal for them Saturday.
