Predators vs. Jets: Game 6 Prediction, NHL Playoff Odds
The Jets have the President’s trophy winning Predators on the brink of elimination with a 6-2 victory in game five. The Predators know they can win in Winnipeg, they did it back in game four, but now it is a must-win situation, or the seasons over for the NHL’s top point producing team.
Predators vs Jets Stanley Cup Playoffs Betting Analysis
The home team in this head-to-head match-up is 9-5 in the last 14 games. The Jets are 13-1 in their last 14 games on home ice dating back to March 1. The Jets are also 5-1 in their last six games when their opponent allows five goals or more in the previous game. The over is 3-2 so far through five games played. Of note, three out of the last four Presidents’ Trophy winners lost in the second round of the post season, will Nashville be the fourth?
Nashville Predators
For the second time in this series, and third time in this post season, Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne was pulled in a game. Rinne allowed six goals on 26 shots and took the loss in game five. Rinne has allowed 19 goals against through the first five games of this series. Back-up Juuse Saros stopped all six of the shots he faced in the game. No doubt, Rinne will get the start in Winnipeg Monday evening.
In game five, the Predators made one line-up change as Kevin Fiala returned to the line-up after a one game absence. He chipped in with four shots on goal. The Predators will likely keep the same line-up in tact hoping to push the series to a game seven. Of note, Predators defenceman P.K. Subban guaranteed a game six win telling the media, “We’re gonna go to Winnipeg. We’re gonna win a game, we’re going to come back here. It’s that simple.” No doubt the Jets and its fan base perked up when they heard that opinion.
Winnipeg Jets
It was bound to happen sooner or later, but in game five, Kyle Connor officially broke out of his post season slump. The first year pro, scored two goals and added an assist (and was a plus three) in the Jets massive win in Nashville Saturday night. It’s the first time a Jets rookie has scored two playoff goals in a game since Teemu Selanne did it back in 1993. Mark Scheifele chipped in with another goal, and now has nine goals this post season; he leads all NHLers in that category. Ironically, seven of his nine goals have been scored on the road.
Speaking of Connor and Scheifele, the third member of that line Blake Wheeler also registered three assists in the win giving the trio a combined eight points (3 goals, 5 assists) on the evening. The Jets were more than happy to welcome back Mathieu Perreault to the line-up Saturday night. After missing eight games with an injury, Perreault took a regular shift, and scored a goal in the winning cause.
