The Oilers return home after tallying a 4-3 win in New York on Saturday to close out a three-game road trip that opened with consecutive defeats. The Panthers open a five-game western road trip on the rebound after dropping a 5-4 decision to St. Louis on Saturday that marked their fourth defeat in five outings.
The Panthers have emerged as slim -115 favourites since this contest opened as a pick’em on the Monday NHL odds, while the Oilers have dipped to a -105 bet. The total has faded to 6.5 since opening at 7.0, but with the backing of 71% of sports bettors, the OVER has improved to -120 chalk.
Panthers vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds
Monday night’s matchup at Rogers Place marks the second and final scheduled meeting between these teams this season. The Oilers skated to a 4-2 victory when they visited Florida on November 12, and have now tallied two straight head-to-head victories, and eight victories in 12 dates since 2016. The road team has dominated in recent clashes between these clubs, winning five straight, with four of those victories by multi-goal margins, including the Panthers’ 6-0 win when they last visited Edmonton in January. The total has only reached 7.0 once in four matchups. Accordingly, the UNDER is currently on a steady 3-0-1 run, ending a 6-1-1 surge for the OVER. While the Panthers have struggled to generate offense when hosting the Oilers, they have filled the net in recent trips to Edmonton, averaging 5.5 goals per game while winning three of four.

It has been far from a stellar start to the season for the Panthers, who finished last season atop the NHL league standings. Winners of consecutive games just once since opening the season on a 2-0-0 run, the Panthers have particularly struggled to contain opposing shooters of late, giving up 4.6 goals per game while losing four of their past five. Getting out of town has provided no relief for the Panthers, who have lost five of seven on the road while surrendering almost four goals per game.
Goaltenders Spencer Knight and Sergei Bobrovsky have both struggled in the crease. Bobrovsky has been lit up for nine goals on just 34 shots over his past four periods of action, and 17 total goals over his past four road appearances. Knight has not done much better. The 21-year-old allowed all five goals in Saturday’s loss, and at least four goals in two of three outings. However, he has enjoyed little defensive support while facing 37 shots per game over that stretch. And while the Panthers have potted 4.17 goals per game over their past six outings, they will start their road trip without Aleksander Barkov, who remains sidelined by an illness.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers snapped a two-game win streak in impressive style on Saturday, erasing a 3-0 deficit with four third-period goals to escape with a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers. That offensive outburst is welcomed by a club that has struggled to consistently score during a 4-7-0 run that features three defeats in four home contests. Indeed, the Oilers have been limited to two or fewer goals in three of their past five outings, and have averaged just two goals per game while falling to defeat in each of the subsequent contest following each of their previous four wins.
The club has suffered from a recent dip in production from Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. The Oilers captain has scored just once in his past six contests, while Draisaitl has tallied just one even-strength marker in seven outings. However, the club received a big boost from their supporting cast on Saturday night, with Evan Bouchard sparking the rally with his first two goals of the season. Ryan McLeod setting up the club’s first three goals on Saturday, but was subsequently place on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury, adding to a growing list of injured players that includes Evander Kane, Mike Smith, and Kailer Yamamoto.
