Oilers vs. Stars Nov 23rd NHL Betting Odds

The Oilers and Stars meet in Dallas for the first of their three head-to-heads of the season. They split their past 10 matchups 5-5, with Edmonton taking the two most recent. Both squads enter tonight’s contest winning three of their past four games. The Oilers are seeing a whopping 90 percent of the betting action on the moneyline, while 70 percent of bettors have it playing the Over tonight.

The Oilers are averaging 3.9 goals per game, good for third in the NHL, hence the 11-6 record on the over/under this year. Edmonton is a lot less consistent against the spread though, only covering in eight of 17 overall.

The Stars had played the Over seven games in a row before their 4-1 win on Saturday night. They are 7-9 on the over/under this year and also 7-9 against the spread. Dallas has picked up the slack on offence this month, averaging 3.5 goals per game in November. They still sit 25th overall in goals-per-game due to their poor start.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers begin a three game road trip tonight in Dallas, after winning the past two at home. Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid each had a goal and an assist in their most recent 5-2 win over the Blackhawks adding to their league lead in points.

Connor McDavid extended his season-opening point streak to 17 games with the first goal of the game halfway through the first period on Saturday. He still has a ways to go to catch Wayne Gretzky’s record of 30 games.

Rookie netminder Stuart Skinner has taken over as the starting goalie ever since coming in as relief for Mikko Koskinen against the Jets last week. Skinner has won his past two starts, boosting his save percentage to a .939.

Dallas Stars

It’s been home sweet home at the American Airlines Center for the Stars, as they boast a 4-2-1 record on home ice. They have won their past three games at home by outscoring their opponents 14-3.

Roope Hintz scored two shorthanded goals in Saturday’s 4-1 win over St. Louis. Hintz has been on fire over the past six games, potting five goals with a pair of assists for seven points. Impressive, considering he had only one assist through the first 10 games.

Goaltender Jake Oettinger has been lights out since being called up to the big squad. In three games he is 2-0 with a 1.43 goals against average and a .955 save percentage, expect the Stars to stick with their hot hand in net.
