Edmonton Oilers vs. Nashville Predators Prediction, NHL Odds
McDavid has picked up 12 goals, 15 assists and 27 points during his current 12-game point streak, to extend his league lead in goals and points.
Nashville has lost its past six games and is quickly falling behind in the Western Conference wildcard race. The Oilers are the -137 favourites to win on the NHL odds with the total set at 6.5.
Oilers vs. Predators NHL Betting Odds
This will be the third and final meeting between these teams in a series that has been completely dominated by Edmonton. Both games smashed the Over going 7-4 and 6-3 for the Oilers, with Leon Draisaitl picking up 10 points (3G 7A) and Connor McDavid posting 8 (3G 5A). Edmonton has won every game in Nashville since February 2019.
The Oilers have a 19-10-3 record on the Over/Under this season, boasting the fourth-highest goals per game at 3.6. They hit the over their last time out but are 2-2 in their past four. They were the favourites in their past two games but lost both failing to cover the spread, evening their record ATS to 16-16.
The Predators have only covered the spread once, throughout their six-game losing streak, pushing their record ATS to 9-20. Their offence has been horrible to start the season ranking 29th in the league, averaging 2.41 goals per game. They played the Over just three times over their past 10 games and were held to two goals or less in seven of those appearances.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers dropped their second straight game after a 4-3 loss at home against the Anaheim Ducks Saturday night. Defenceman Darnell Nurse opened the scoring getting the Oilers on the board with his fifth of the season. Then Edmonton would surrender three straight goals before their powerplay would connect twice to tie the game on goals from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Connor McDavid. Despite outshooting the Ducks 49-17 they would still lose the game after the Ducks scored late in the third.
Stuart Skinner would stop 13 of 17 shots in the loss, dropping his third start in a row. The Oilers have relied on him heavily this month starting him in seven of nine games.
Jack Campbell got the win in their last game versus the Predators and with such a heavy load on Skinner, could head coach Jay Woodcroft return to his five-million-dollar man in the net?
Nashville Predators
Nashville has now lost six games in a row after losing 3-1 in Colorado Saturday night. Matt Duchene scored the lone marker for the Preds in the third period to bring the game back to within one, but after pulling the goalie, they would give up another. Juuse Saros made 27 saves but took his fifth loss in a row.
Saros has been playing very well during December despite having a 1-3-2 record. He has a .915 save percentage and 2.65 goals against average but tends to receive little to no goal support from his team.
Defenceman Roman Josi has been the team’s most consistent player lately, picking up six points in eight games played this month. He is second on the team in scoring with 23 points (6G 17A) and is returning to his Norris Caliber play after a slow start to the season.
