Each squad has amassed 40 points this season, although the Kraken has done so in three fewer contests, hence why they sit one spot higher than the Oilers in the division.

Jay Woodcroft’s Oilers are deemed slim -115 favourites on the NHL odds, while the over-under is pinned at 6.5.

Oilers vs. Kraken NHL Betting Odds

Given the newly nascent Seattle franchise, there isn’t much history to speak of between these sides. Edmonton and Seattle have gone into battle a total of three times, all last season (Friday is the first of four scheduled dates this season). The Alberta franchise holds a 2-1 edge and has already won once in Seattle.

The Oilers are experiencing a much rougher season than anticipated. They tallied over 100 points last season, but it looks increasingly unlikely that they’ll repeat the feat unless they go on a tear. At 18-18, covering the spread has proven to be a frustrating challenge. Bettors may find comfort in the fact that the side has performed better away from home, earning themselves a 10-6-1 record. That makes them one of only nine teams who have won at least 10 times on the road.

Seattle has given bettors a bit more reason for optimism in 2022-2023 with a decent 19-14 showing. Consistency has eluded them in the past couple of weeks, however. The Kraken is in a seven-game stretch during which it has altered between covering the spread and failing to. Of note, the team has covered three of the last four spreads when they were considered underdogs.

Edmonton Oilers

The visitors arrive in Washington State fresh off an important victory over their age-old rivals the Calgary Flames. Heading into the Saddledome is never an easy task, especially when you’re the team the Flames are the most excited to play against.

It wasn’t as if the hosts didn’t try to torch their rivals. Calgary emphatically outshot the visitors 47-22, and out-hit them 20-13. Edmonton hung in as best it could, blocking an incredible 25 shots, with goalie Stuart Skinner earning his paycheck with a stellar night’s work (46 saves). He even had the goalpost to thank in the dying seconds as the Oilers clung to a precious 2-1 advantage. That lead came courtesy of non-other than superstar Connor McDavid, who netted his 31st on the power play. McDavid leads the league in points with 67, 10 more than his teammate Leon Draisaitl. Conceding only once was encouraging given how difficult it’s been for the Oilers to keep the puck out of their net this season.

Seattle Kraken

Speaking of the Calgary Flames, they are the most recent team to play the Kraken. There was no time to lick wounds, as Seattle waited for them 24 hours after the loss to the Oilers.

It ended up being one of Seattle’s poorest home showings of the year. They looked as if they sleepwalked through parts of the game despite having rested for five days. To their credit, the Kraken didn’t give up after falling behind 1-0 in the first period, overtaking the opposition for a 2-1 lead early in the middle frame. From that point however they were unquestionably the second-best team on the ice. The third period was especially disheartening, with the Flames creating far and away more quality scoring chances, ultimately taking the game 3-2. Jordan Eberle earned two assists. He leads the team with 19.
