Oilers vs. Flames Prediction: NHL Betting Odds
Not only do players on either side have significant personal milestones in their sights, but it’s always special when the Alberta rivals face off – and Saturday’s tilt is no different, with Calgary looking to claim the season series and the Oilers hoping to salvage a four-game split.
Oilers vs Flames Betting Analysis
The Flames are comfortable favourites in their final game of the regular season despite the chance they’ll either give their star players reduced ice time, or rest them altogether. The Flames come in having won nine of their previous 13 games and are 6-2 in their past eight at Scotiabank Saddledome. They’ve also won 18 of their last 26 home games vs. the Oilers, who have dropped four consecutive road contests heading into this one.
Look for there to be plenty of scoring in this one if past trends hold. While the teams are 3-1-1 to the under in their past five meetings overall, they’ve posted seven overs and a push in their last 10 games in Calgary. That said, both teams come in with strong under trends; the Flames are 7-3-1 to the under in their last 11 games overall, while the Oilers have finished below the total in four of their previous five games as an underdog.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers haven’t had a player score 50 goals in their uniform in more than three decades, but Leon Draisaitl is in prime position to join that exclusive club. Draisaitl ranks second in the NHL with 49 goals entering the season finale, and with nothing at stake for Edmonton on Saturday, don’t be surprised to see Draisaitl shoot the puck with reckless abandon. Craig Simpson was the last Oilers player to score 50 in a season way back in 1988.
Calgary Flames
Draisaitl and the Oilers aren’t the only team with history-making potential this weekend. More than a quarter-century has passed since the Flames had a 100-point scorer – but Johnny Gaudreau is on the cusp, sitting just two points shy of triple digits. For their part, Gaudreau’s teammates say they desperately want to get him the two points he needs, so expect to see plenty of Gaudreau and his linemates in the Oilers’ offensive zone.
