This contest brings us a rematch of last year’s first-round Western Conference Playoffs clash between the sides. The Ducks prevailed in six games, which means the Oilers have revenge on their minds heading into this matchup.

The Oilers have started the new season with a 2-0-1 record and are coming off back-to-back wins over the Canucks and Kraken. On the other side, the Ducks are 2-0-0 on the young season with wins over the Golden Knights and Panthers.

Oilers vs. Ducks NHL Betting Odds

Money Line: Oilers (-125), Ducks (+105)

Puck Line: Oilers -1.5 (+185), Ducks +1.5 (-225)

Run Total: Over 6.5 (-130)/ Under 6.5 (+110)

Last season, the Oilers posted an overall record of 41-30-11, while the Ducks went 43-33-6. The Oilers are into a new era under head coach Mike Babcock, while the Ducks are now into the second season of the Joel Quenneville era.

Oddsmakers are giving a slight edge to the Oilers in this matchup. Edmonton enters with money line odds of -125, while Anaheim has odds of +105 to pick up the win.

On the puck line, Oilers -1.5 is valued at +185, while Anaheim +1.5 is -225. The game total is set at 6.5, with odds juiced to the Over at -130 and +110 on the Under.

At +110, Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl has the shortest odds of any player to score a goal in this game. Draisaitl scored 35 goals in 65 games last season, and posted a shooting percentage of 18.8%. He has scored three goals through three games to start the new season.

With odds of +120, Anaheim’s Cutter Gauthier has the shortest odds of any Duck to score a goal in the contest. Gauthier is coming off a breakout 2025-26 campaign that saw him pot 41 goals in 76 games. He has two goals in two games this season.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers started the new season in less-than-ideal fashion by allowing 13 total goals over their first two games. Goaltending continues to be the main area of concern for Edmonton, and while both Tristan Jarry and Devon Levi have seen action this season, neither has been overly impressive.

The good news is that the Oilers still have plenty of offensive firepower with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl leading the way. McDavid is already up to nine points through three games, while Draisaitl has five of his own.

Defenseman Evan Bouchard is also off to a great start. Bouchard potted a hat-trick in Edmonton’s season opener, and has racked up eight points on four goals and four assists through three games.

Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks have taken down a pair of Stanley Cup contenders to start the season with wins over the Golden Knights and Panthers. Both victories have come by a single goal, with Anaheim finding a 3-2 overtime win over Florida in its most recent outing.

Anaheim center Leo Carlsson enjoyed a breakout 2025-26 campaign in which he scored 29 goals and dished out 38 assists for 67 points in 70 games. Carlsson has picked up right where he left off last season, as he’s collected five points on a goal and four assists through just two games in 2026-27.

Goaltender Lukas Dostal also enjoyed a solid season last year, as he set career highs in starts (55) and wins (30), but still posted a save percentage of .888. Given the massive changes that Anaheim’s defensive core endured over the offseason, Dostal must be on his game in this one if the Ducks want to walk away with a win.

NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Oilers vs. Ducks?

The Oilers have revenge on their minds, and the defensive core of the Ducks that they are facing is much different than in last year’s playoff round. The Ducks lost Jacob Trouba, Radko Gudas, John Carlson and Owen Zellweger, which leaves them with plenty of production to replace on the blue line.

The new-look D-core has been alright through two games, but this will be their toughest test of the young season. Look for McDavid and the Oilers to find the win column in this one.
