Edmonton Oilers vs. Anaheim Ducks Game 4 Prediction, NHL Playoff Odds

The surprising Anaheim Ducks have a chance to take a commanding 3-1 series lead when they host the Edmonton Oilers in Game 4 of this first-round playoff series on Sunday night.

The young-gun Ducks have been hugely impressive in their first playoff action in eight years and they continued that in Game 3 on Friday. Despite giving up the first goal, Anaheim rallied and eventually skated away with a 7-4 win.

Will the battle-tested Oilers have an answer in Game 4, or can the Ducks really turn up the heat?

Edmonton is a -135 favourite to win on the NHL odds, with the total set at 7.0.

Oilers vs. Ducks NHL Betting Odds

This has been the highest scoring series of the first round and it’s not that surprising considering all six regular season and playoff games between these teams in 2026 have totalled six or more goals.

As such, the total has been set to a lofty 7.0 in six of seven head-to-heads (counting Sunday) this year. And even with the high totals, the Over has still hit in five of six previous matchups.

Those stats all make sense when you look at the regular season. Both teams were bottom-10 in goals allowed per game, with Anaheim giving up the fourth-most at 3.51 and Edmonton ranking eighth at 3.23.

It took three games, but oddsmakers are finally on the Ducks’ bandwagon. For the first time this series, Anaheim is listed as the favourite to move on at -140 on the NHL futures board. Conversely, the Oilers are +118 underdogs after starting the playoffs as significant -235 series favourites.

Ironically, the favoured exact series result is Edmonton winning in seven games at +260. Personally, I think the best value is the current long shot, which is the Ducks winning in seven at +425.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers only have themselves to blame for their Game 3 loss. Edmonton scored first for the third straight game and they held leads of 1-0 and 3-2, but couldn’t close. Connor McDavid finally netted his first points of the series with a goal and an assist, while Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard each had two helpers. Kasperi Kapanen, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Vasily Podkolzin had the other Oilers goals.

One of the tougher conversations for Edmonton right now is what to do in net. Connor Ingram has been tagged for 14 goals in three games, but his .849 save percentage is more reflective of the terrible defence in front of him. I mean, the Oilers were outshot 39-24 on Friday, including 20-7 in the first period alone. I don’t see head coach Kris Knoblauch turning to Tristan Jarry for Game 4, but you have to wonder if he eventually makes a change for the sake of change.

Anaheim Ducks

A four-goal third period from the Ducks made the difference in Game 3. Beckett Sennecke and Leo Carlsson scored 42 seconds apart in the final frame to give Anaheim a lead they never relinquished. Mikael Granlund, Jackson LaCombe, Alex Killorn, Jeffrey Viel and Mason McTavish also found the back of the net. Lukas Dostal turned aside 20 of 24 shots faced.

One thing to watch out for is the status of captain Radko Gudas, who has missed Games 2 and 3 with a lower-body injury. Gudas also missed 13 of the final 17 regular season games with the injury before returning to play just under 10 minutes in Game 1. The physical Czech defenceman posted two goals and 11 assists with 164 hits and 88 blocked shots over 56 regular season games.
