Puck Luck

Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks (-225, 5.5)

The Canucks are putting it all together and head into this one riding a five-game winning streak, while the Oilers haven’t been able to build any momentum. Edmonton has looked better at times lately with wins over Nashville, Dallas, and Colorado, but they’ve also alternated between wins and losses for the last 10 games. That’s not going to cut it in the competitive Western Conference. The Oilers still make too many mistakes in the neutral zone and in their own end, which is exactly what John Tortorella hopes to exploit tonight. The Canucks have allowed just six goals over their current winning streak and won’t make it easy on Dallas Eakins’ club tonight. There’s absolutely no value betting the home team here so stick with the under.

Pick: Under

Washington Capitals at Florida Panthers (+120, 5.5)

Over the years, we’ve seen the Washington Capitals try to shift to more of a defensive team a few times with varying degrees of success. The thing is, with the offensive talent this roster boasts, the Caps are never able to sustain it very long. Right now, the Caps are absolutely filling the net with 15 goals during a three-game winning streak. Alex Ovechkin scored four of those himself in Washington latest win over Tampa Bay and now leads the league with 26 goals on the year. The Caps have been known to fall into these pothole spots – especially when they’re in the sunny south in Florida – but strictly from a talent standpoint, there’s no way Washington should slip up here.

Pick: Washington Capitals
