The Maple Leafs’ recent wins have moved them five points ahead of the Florida Panthers for third place in the Atlantic Division. Toronto hasn’t won four in a row since December 14th to 27th of last year.

Maple Leafs vs. Sharks Betting Analysis

The Toronto Maple Leafs current record of 35-23-8 puts them at third place in the Atlantic Division and the San Jose Sharks’ record of 28-33-4 puts them in sixth place in a tightly-contested Pacific Division.

San Jose is 16-15-1 at home this season. They take the second-most number of penalties in the league, averaging 10.8 penalty minutes per game. The Leafs record on the road has improved to 18-14-1.

The last game between these two clubs was on October 25th, and the Leafs came away with a 4-1 victory. Ilya Mikheyev, Auston Matthews, Jake Muzzin and Morgan Reilly each netted one for Toronto, while Kevin Labanc got the lone Sharks goal.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs are coming off of a 4-2 win against the visiting Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, a game which saw the first goal of the season from defenceman Martin Marincin. It was Marincin’s first goal since the 2016 season and just his fourth goal in the 223 NHL games he’s played so far.

The other three Toronto goals came from Frederik Gauthier, Auston Matthews and Zach Hyman. Frederik Andersen made his seventh consecutive start and the win improved his record to 28-13-6. Andersen stopped 25 of 27 shots in the victory.

Auston Matthews will be looking to get on the scoreboard tonight, as he’s in a fairly tight three-way race for the most goals scored this season. David Pastrnak of the Bruins is the current frontrunner, with 47 goals, but Matthews and Alex Ovechkin are not far behind with 45 each.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks might be too late to make a real playoff push, as they’re twelve points out of that coveted last playoff spot in a close Western race.  However, that hasn’t stopped them from playing good hockey recently, and they’ll be trying to win their third in a row tonight. The host Sharks haven’t won three in a row since November of 2019.

The Sharks handed the struggling Penguins their sixth straight loss on Saturday, shutting Pittsburgh out of scoring and scoring five goals in the win. Evander Kane had a goal and an assist and the other four Sharks goals came from Logan Couture, Joe Thornton, Timo Meier and Joel Kellman.

Goalie Martin Jone earned his second shutout of the season, making 30 saves in the win.
