The Maple Leafs continue their California road trip with a stop in Los Angeles. It will be the first of back to back contests for the Leafs who are in a battle for third place in the Atlantic division with the Florida Panthers.
Meanwhile, the Kings are on a winning streak but will be a lottery team when they head to the draft table in June.
Maple Leafs vs. Kings Betting Analysis
The Maple Leafs have won three straight against the Kings, dating back to October 15, 2018. In those three games, the Leafs only allowed three goals against while scoring 12. However, the Leafs have struggled while playing in Los Angeles with a 1-4 record in the last five games.
The home team in this head to head series is 5-1 in the last six games.
Of note, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Los Angeles.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs saw their three-game winning streak snapped in San Jose on Tuesday night. The buds fell to the Sharks 5-2. Auston Matthews scored goal number 46 on the season. He is second place overall in NHL goal scoring, only one goal behind David Pastrnak of the Bruins. Matthews has a goal and three assists in his last two games against the Kings.
It’s anyone’s best guess who will start in goal for the Leafs in this game. Originally, it was thought that Jack Campbell would face his former team, but after taking the loss Tuesday, that question is up in the air. One thing we do know is, with back to back games Thursday and Friday night, Campbell and Freddie Andersen will split the duties.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings might be at the bottom of the Western conference with just 56 points, but you wouldn’t know it the way they have been playing as of late. In the last 10 games, the Kings are 6-3-1 and enter this game with the Maple Leafs winners of three straight games.
In the three games the Kings have played well defensively, only allowing three goals against. But true to the Kings way of playing this season, they only scored eight goals in the three games. Currently the Kings are 30th in goals this season, averaging 2.48 per game. They are also 30th in shooting percentage at 7.5 percent.
The Kings dumped a number of key players from their Stanley Cup runs as Tyler Toffoli, Alec Martinez, Jack Campbell and Kyle Clifford all found new teams. For Campbell and Clifford this will be the first game back in Los Angeles playing their ex-team mates.
