This starts a three-game road trip Toronto. By the time it’s concluded on Monday at the Islanders, we should know whether catching Boston for second place in the Atlantic is still possible. Philadelphia hasn’t been eliminated from playoff contention as of yet but it would take a miracle at this point. Problems in net have really torpedoed the Flyers’ season as they allow 3.3 goals per game.

Maple Leafs vs Flyers Betting Analysis

It’s the last meeting of the season between the clubs, with the Leafs leading 2-0 and having scored at least six goals in each – both at Scotiabank Arena. Toronto hasn’t swept the season series since 2006-07. Andreas Johnsson leads Toronto with four points (3G, 1A) vs. Philly this season. Mitch Marner has three assists. Auston Matthews has two goals and John Tavares one. Frederik Andersen and Garret Sparks each won a game – Sparks’ victory was a shutout.

Claude Giroux (3A) and former Maple Leaf James van Riemsdyk (3G) lead the Flyers with three points each vs. Toronto. Three Flyers goalies have seen action: Brian Elliott, Cal Pickard and Anthony Stolarz.

The favourite is 6-2 in the past eight meetings. The under is 3-1-2 in the previous six in Philadelphia.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The inconsistent Leafs beat the visiting Panthers on Monday 7-5 behind a four-goal game from Tavares, the first of his career. His 45 goals are now second in the NHL this season and the most by a Maple Leaf in his first season with the franchise. Tavares already has shattered his previous career high in goals and has matched his best in points with 86. Marner, 21, had three assists to reach 90 points, becoming the youngest player in Leafs history to hit that mark.

Morgan Rielly had two assists to reach 70 points, just the third defenceman in franchise history to hit that mark and first since Borje Salming in 1979-80.  Patrick Marleau played in the the 1,651st regular-season game of his career, tying Chris Chelios for sixth all-time in the NHL. The Leafs are 0-4 in their past four after a win.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philadelphia has lost two straight and five of seven. The Flyers were beaten 3-1 in Washington on Sunday in the second of a back-to-back. Jakub Voracek had the lone goal, his 20th of the season. He’s the fifth player on the team to reach 20 goals – Sean Couturier leads with 31. Elliott surrendered three goals on 30 shots.

It probably will be good-looking rookie Carter Hart back in there Wednesday as he’s the future. Hart is 15-11-1 with a 2.72 goals-against average and .921 save percentage on the season. He’s from Sherwood Park in Alberta. Hart has lost five of his last seven games. The Flyers are 1-5 in their past six vs. teams with a winning record.
