Kings vs. Canucks Prediction: NHL Betting Odds

The Vancouver Canucks are in the midst of a seven-game homestand when they battle the flailing L.A. Kings.

Kings vs Canucks Betting Analysis

The L.A. Kings have officially been eliminated from playoff contention. Their record this season is one of the league’s worst at 28-40-8, putting them at 30th place in the NHL standings with 64 points. They’ll continue their tour of Canada tonight when they face the Canucks, whose season record currently stands at 32-35-10.

The Nucks won the last time these two clubs played, on February 14th. The final score was 4-3, and another hotshot rookie, Elias Pettersson, got a goal and an assist in that game.

Los Angeles Kings

The Kings are coming into this one on a four game losing streak. The Oilers beat them handily in their last game by a score of 8-4. Dustin Brown, Drew Doughty, Carl Grundstrom and Alex Iafallo each had a goal in the game, but could not keep the puck out of their net behind Jonathan Quick, who let in 5 goals in 11 shots before being pulled after a single period. Oilers Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins both got hat tricks for their team.

It’s a big night for Dustin Brown who will go on the franchise record book for his 1,112th career game. That puts him past Dave Taylor, making him the all-time leader in regular season games played. Brown was selected in the first-round, 13th overall, in the 2003 draft .

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are coming off of a 5-4 loss to the Anaheim Ducks at Rogers Arena earlier this week, a game in which Ducks rookie Sam Steel had his first career NHL hat trick.

The big story in Vancouver these days is Quinn Hughes, the seventh-overall pick last year who officially signed with the Canucks two weeks ago. He was nursing an ankle injury he got during the NCAA playoffs, but is expected make his debut this evening.

Vancouver Coach Travis Green has said he plans to put Hughes on the ice with Luke Schenn for his first NHL game. Hughes isn’t planning on making waves tonight, saying “I don’t need to do anything special. I just need to get the puck up to the forwards because they’re so skilled. I’m just going to try to do my job and keep the puck out of our net.”
