Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars Prediction, NHL Odds
Thursday night in the NHL brings us a big-time matchup between two Central Division foes in the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars. Dallas will go for the season sweep, as they have dominated Winnipeg all season long.
In their fourth and final matchup, Dallas continues their push to claim as much home ice advantage as they can, while Winnipeg fights for an unlikely but possible playoff appearance. Let’s get ready for the excitement with our Jets vs. Stars prediction.
Jets vs. Stars NHL Betting Odds
Dallas has excelled on the money line this season (44-31), but their puck line coverage has been scarce (29-46). On the NHL odds board they are -180 on the money line.
Winnipeg meanwhile has struggled on the money line (32-42), and have done slightly better within the puck line (35-39). They are +150 on the money line and are +1.5 at -175.
As for the game totals, things are set at 5.5 goals, -120 to the under, and +100. Players who have the shortest odds to score and contribute to that game total are Jason Robertson (+150) and Mikko Rantanen (+155) for Dallas, while Kyle Connor (+180) and Mark Scheifele (+195) lead the way for Winnipeg. Look for Connor who has a hot stick, scoring in three of his last four games.
Winnipeg Jets
In what has been an up-and-down season, the Winnipeg Jets (32-30-12) are not dead yet. They are 4-1-1 in their last six games, and are just one point back from a wild card position. This is an outcome that did not seem possible for a majority of their season, and now that they are here they will not want it to go to waste.
However, this is an extremely difficult matchup. Dallas has already beaten Winnipeg three times this season, outscoring them by 13-10. All were one-goal games, but Winnipeg has yet to be able to push through. It may be tough to do so in this meeting as the road team.
Winnipeg’s weak special teams could play a big factor in this game, they own the sixth-worst power play (17.6%) and a middling penalty kill (78.5%). Dallas is the type of team that will jump on these chances whenever they can.
Dallas Stars
The Dallas Stars (44-19-12) have a long list of injuries on the Stars (Tyler Seguin, Radek Faksa, Roope Hintz, Michael Bunting, and Sam Steel to name a few), but this is a deep lineup led by star talent such as Mikko Rantanen, Jason Robertson, and Miro Heiskanen. Winnipeg is facing multiple injuries of their own, and already owns a weaker team.
After a four-game winning streak in mid-March, Dallas has gone 2-5-2 over their last seven. However, I believe this team is absolutely fed up with the losses, and being at home for the first time in over a week should be a massive help.
Winnipeg covered the puck line in all three Dallas victories over them this season, but this gives me no hesitation on how this one could play out. Dallas was also able to score 13 goals in the process (4.33 per game), and I expect a strong showing in a possible get-right game.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Jets vs. Stars?
Not only is Dallas on home ice and a far-surperior team over Winnipeg, but this Stars team is a massive threat to the entire league. Their high Stanley Cup winning odds stem from multiple factors, as they are filled with star talent and depth, are properly coached, and are a massive threat at both ends of the ice. Winnipeg may run into a wall here as the Stars urgently push for a winning effort. I expect Dallas to win 3-1.
