Winnipeg Jets vs. Calgary Flames Prediction, NHL Odds
Winnipeg and Calgary have started this NHL season trending in two very different directions. Through five games, a 4-1-0 record has Winnipeg looking to be a force to be reckoned with once again. Granted, it’s a small sample size. But we have seen Winnipeg be plenty successful in past regular seasons to know this start is no fluke.
Meanwhile, the trajectory looks a bit different for the Flames. Calgary is 1-5-0, they appear caught in the mushy middle once again in a loaded Western Conference, and may be a prime candidate to sell at the trade deadline if they do not stay competitive in the West. This early-season game could have Flames management considering options.
Jets vs. Flames NHL Betting Odds
Unsurprisingly, given the glowing review of the Jets and the not so glowing review of the Flames, Winnipeg is favoured in this one on the NHL odds. Winnipeg is -150 on the moneyline to the Flames’ +125, and the puckline of -1.5, favouring the Jets is +155.
Calgary enters this game having lost five consecutive games by a combined score of 22-7. That is an average loss of 4.4-1.4. Conversely, Winnipeg has won four straight games entering this one by a combined score of 17-7 for an average win of 4.25-1.75. Given the current trends of these teams, the +155 for Winnipeg to cover -1.5 looks like great value.
Winnipeg Jets
As mentioned, the Jets enter this game in great form to the tune of a four-game winning streak. Winnipeg was the best team in hockey through the first half of last season. Early returns on the 2025-26 season look very similar for the Jets. Also to mention, they are finding this early success without their captain Adam Lowry, as well as Cole Perfetti and Dylan Samberg.
If there is anything a skeptic may say about the Jets’ start to the season, it may be that they have not been tested yet. Their wins have come against middling teams. But a middling team is what Calgary looks to be, which still bodes well for Winnipeg. This is a good team that knows they need points in a tough Central Division, and will keep their foot on the gas.
Calgary Flames
The Flames are a bit of a confusing team. They have a mix of veteran players and young players that, on paper, look like they could be a playoff contender. There are just too many question marks.
Last year, the Flames finished the season with 96 points. That was just a point shy of making the playoffs. There was chatter around whether the Flames were that good and could build, or whether they overachieved. In a tough Western Conference, it may have been the latter. They would love to prove that wrong, but have their work cut out for them.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Jets vs. Flames?
The Jets are the more reliable play in this one. They look like they are in mid-season form already and are not letting up on opponents. Winnipeg makes for a tough opponent for just about any team in hockey, let alone a sliding Calgary team.
The Flames rank 32nd in the league in goals scored per game, 30th in goals allowed per game, 19th on the power play and 22nd on the penalty kill. Not much is going right for them during this five-game losing streak. With each loss adds more pressure. Look for the Jets to stay hot and collect another two points with a convincing 4-1 victory.
