Jets vs. Devils NHL Betting Odds
It tends to be a high-scoring game when the Devils and Jets faceoff, with seven of their past nine meetings hitting the Over. Winnipeg has had it their way as of late winning, five of their past six head-to-heads, although they will be meeting tonight for the first time this season.
Winnipeg played the Under for the seventh straight game on Thursday night in their 3-1 loss to Columbus. That makes their record against the total a remarkable 14-37-4 so far this year, which is significantly more Unders than anyone else in the league. They have given up the second least amount of goals in the NHL and still have an offence sitting in the middle of the pack, averaging 3.1 goals per game. They have not covered the spread in five of their past seven outings, but still, boast an impressive 32-23 record against the spread.
The Devils put five goals on the board last night, helping them hit the Over and snapping a four-game trend going the other way. They boast an explosive offence, scoring at a 3.5 goals per game pace (top 5 in NHL) and hold a record of 24-27-4 on the Over/Under. They have been great against the spread for most of the season, despite some recent struggles and are 30-25 ATS after covering again last night in Pittsburgh.
Winnipeg Jets
After rolling through a three-game win streak, the Winnipeg Jets came crashing back to reality, losing to the 30th-placed Blue Jackets on Thursday night. Kyle Connor (25) found the back of the net on the power play to open the scoring, but it was the only time the Jets would score despite firing 38 shots on goal, losing 3-1. Connor’s goal extended his point streak to four straight games, as he leads the Jets in scoring with 62 points (25G 37A).
David Rittich got the start in goal and played pretty well, stopping 21 of 23 shots in the loss. It was only his second time this season starting back-to-back games giving Connor Hellebuyck some well-deserved rest. Hellebuyck has started 41 of the Jets’ 55 games so far and has been stellar, winning 25 games, posting a .924 save percentage and a 2.41 goals-against average.
Winnipeg will be looking to get back in the win column and continue to chase that top spot in the Central Division. Dallas leads by only three points, while the Jets have two games in hand.
New Jersey Devils
Jack Hughes returned to New Jersey’s lineup in style last night, putting up two assists in their big 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hughes did not miss a beat after sitting out four games with an injury getting himself to 69 points (35G 34A) on the season.
The biggest star in last night’s game was definitely Nico Hischier though scoring a pair of goals and adding two assists. It was the first game this season that the 24-year-old put up four points in a night as he continues what will likely be the best offensive season of his career so far.
Vitek Vanecek returned to the goal after a night off and stopped 29 of 31 shots for his 24th win of the season. The Czechia-born netminder has been incredible since the start of 2023, posting a ridiculous 11-0-1 record since flipping his calendar.
The Devils will continue their hunt for the top spot in the Metropolitan division, trailing the Carolina Hurricanes by just five points.
