Jets vs. Blues Game 6 Prediction: NHL Playoffs Betting Odds
The Jets are on the brink of elimination, and to force a game seven, they’ll have to find a way to pull out of win in St. Louis Saturday night. The good news; they have done it before, and have a good record in the “Show Me state.” The bad news, there’s no room for error; a costly mistake could send the team packing for the summer.
Jets vs Blues Stanley Cup Playoffs Betting Analysis
You talk about how important third periods are, well in this series all five games have been decided in the final frame or overtime.
Home ice has not been an advantage in this series, a better statement might be, it’s a disadvantage. All five games so far in this series have been won by the road team.
Jets fans will be happy to know that the team is 9-1 in their last ten games in St. Louis. The road team in this head-to-head series is also 6-0 in their last six games dating back to the regular season.
Dating back to the regular season, the Jets are 5-4 in their last nine games.
With the 3-2 series lead the Blues are the heavy -400 favourite to win the series at Sports Interaction. If you are backing the Jets, there is good value on them at +280, but they have to win two games in a row to cash that bet.
Of note, the Jets franchise is 1-3 when facing elimination; Winnipeg’s lone win came last season in Nashville in Game 7 of the Second Round.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets continue to struggle to close out games in the third period this season. The Jets let a two-goal lead slip away in game five, and for the second time in these playoffs ( the 11th time overall this season), were on the end of loss – when a win seemed inevitable.
The Jets have lost seven of their last eight home playoff games (dating back to last year), so perhaps they’ll be more comfortable playing their first elimination game on the road in St. Louis Saturday night. The Jets went 22-18-1 on the road during the regular season, which set a franchise record for the most road wins in a season.
Of note, Adam Lowry’s goal, 12 seconds in to the game, snapped a personal 24 game goalless drought in the post season. Now, Nik Ehlers holds that dubious distinction, having not scored in 20 straight post season games.
St. Louis Blues
The Blues will try to build off of an impressive third period in Winnipeg during game five. With the team down 2-0 going into the final frame, the Blues struck for three goals on eight shots including the winner with just 15 seconds remaining from Jaden Schwartz. It was Schwartz’s first goal of the post-season.
After starting the post season 0-for-7 on the power-play, the Blues have completely turned that aspect of their game around going 4-for-8 in the last three games.
