Jets vs. Blackhawks Prediction: NHL Betting Odds
The Central division title will likely go down to the wire, with the Jets, Predators and Blues separated by only two points. The Jets are tied with the Preds but have a game in hand against them, they have two-point edge on the Blues. For the Blackhawks, it’s simple; they need to win out, and a miracle.
Jets vs Blackhawks Betting Analysis
The Jets enter this game with the Blackhawks on a four-game winning streak against them, outscoring them 20-12 in the four games. However, in the last four games played in Chicago, the teams are 2-2.
The Blackhawks do have some momentum on their side in this series as the home team 6-1 in the last seven games. The Hawks are also 5-0 in their last five games when playing a team with a winning record.
Of note, the over is 5-1 in the last six games, including a run of three straight games to the over.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets enter this game with the Hawks on a three-game losing streak, and played one of their most sluggish games of the year Saturday night. In the end, it was a 3-1 loss to the Canadiens where the Jets managed 24 shots against, including only 13 through the first two periods of play, and didn’t look interested in the game.
The one positive the team can take from that game was goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. In a losing effort, he was the game’s first star as he stopped 41-of-43 shots and was left alone for most of the night.
The team now will finish the season on the road, starting with back-to-back games with Chicago then Minnesota (Monday/Tuesday).
Expect the Jets to split the goaltending duties in these two games, as Connor Hellebuyck will play in one game, and the question is, who will play the other? Laurent Brossoit has been battling an injury as of late, so it could also be Eric Comrie (Manitoba Moose) to draw the assignment.
Of note, Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien returned to the line-up after missing 19 games with a lower-body injury. He was minus-1 with three hits in 24:24. Byfuglien has missed a total of 40 games this season. The Jets are hopeful that this will be the end of a bad luck season for the big defenceman.
Chicago Blackhawks
Although the Blackhawks are not mathematically eliminated from the post season, they are on their last steps. The team enters this game with the Jets coming off a critical 3-2 overtime loss to the Kings. They are 5-3-2 in their last 10 games, but are 2-4 in their last six.
Although goal scoring hasn’t been a problem for the Hawks this season, averaging 3.24 games per game (ranked eighth in the league), it has been as of late. In their last eight games, they have scored just 16 goals.
Team goals against has been a problem in Chicago, and probably the number one reason this team will not be headed to the post season. Currently its ranked 30th in the league, averaging 3.56 goals against per game. They are also ranked 30th in most shots allowed, averaging almost 35 shots against per game.
