The Central Division-leading Jets have dropped two straight and only have four wins in their last 10 outings, opening the door for Colorado to make some ground. The Avs are comfortably in the West’s top Wild-Card spot, but trail Winnipeg by eight points.

Like their matchup in the first round of last year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, both Winnipeg and Colorado are scoring with ease. The difference this season, and the reason why the Jets lead the division, is Connor Hellebuyck is carrying Winnipeg to the second-best goals against in the NHL. Hellebuyck allowed two goals over a three-game win streak last week, but faulted Monday on Utah in a 5-2 defeat.

Puck drop at Ball Arena begins at 9:30 p.m. EST with the Avalanche a -135 moneyline favourite and the total at six on the NHL odds.

Jets vs. Avalanche NHL Betting Odds

Colorado is a mountain Winnipeg has yet to climb. The Avs are 12-4 in their last 16 games hosting Winnipeg, including 6-2 and 5-1 post-season victories last year. In the 4-1 series win in last year’s playoffs, all four of Colorado’s win were by at least three goals and they scored five goals in each win.

Seven of the last 10 Jets–Avalanche meetings have finished over the total, but two of the last three have featured Connor Hellebuyck shutouts (both this season). In last year’s playoff series, Hellebuyck finished with a 5.23 goals against average and .870 save percentage. The Vezina Trophy favourite seems to have figured out the Avalanche, at least in the regular season.

Winnipeg currently leads the season series 2-1, Wednesday is the final of four meetings.

Winnipeg Jets

A poor offensive showing Wednesday would officially put the Jets in a slump. Winnipeg’s scored a total of five goals in their last three outings, a huge dip for a team that ranks second in scoring and first in power-play percentage. After registering a hat-trick in a 6-1 win last week, leading scorer Kyle Connor has since gone without a goal. Mark Scheifele had a four-game scoring streak snapped on the weekend and is now goal-less in his last two outings. Both have to show up when the Jets face high-powered offences like Colorado.

Of course, none of this matters if Connor Hellebuyck doesn’t allow a goal. In two games versus the Avalanche this season, Hellebuyck has turned away all 57 shots faced.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche have played 10 games in 2025 and have yet to either win or lose consecutive games. The win, lose, win (and so on) pattern has a good fortune for Wednesday though, as Colorado is coming off a 3-1 loss vs. Minnesota on Monday. Since Colorado has alternated wins and losses this entire month, that guarantees a win against Winnipeg, right?

Well, not so fast. First, Colorado has to figure out a way to score on Connor Hellebuyck this season. The Avalanche peppered the star Jets goalie in the playoffs last season with success, but as mentioned have been shut out by Hellebuyck twice this season. The Avs have depth too as seven skaters have double-digit goals on the season — look for at least one of these seven to beat Hellebuyck on Wednesday.
