New York Islanders vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction, NHL Odds
The Edmonton Oilers will try to overcome their recent struggles on home ice, where they have lost three of their past four games, when they host the New York Islanders in Thursday night NHL betting action at Rogers Place.
The Oilers return home after closing out a two-game road trip with a 4-3 overtime loss in Nashville on Tuesday night, but have earned at least a point in five straight outings to remain just two points back of first-place Vegas in the Pacific Division standings.
The Islanders continue an epic seven-game Western road trip on Thursday after falling 5-4 in Winnipeg on Tuesday night that marks their sixth defeat in eight road contests.
The Oilers lead the way as -165 favourites on the NHL odds. The Islanders trail as +135 underdogs, and the total is pegged at 6.5.
Islanders vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds
The Islanders claimed a 4-2 home victory in their first meeting of the season with the Oilers back on October 16. That win snapped a two-game slide in head-to-head action, but the Islanders still face a huge challenge to rewrite a losing narrative in Edmonton, where they have fallen to defeat in six straight and 12 of 13 visits since 2003.
Indeed, the Oilers have been dominant at times during their home success versus the Isles, limiting New York to just 11 total goals during their six-game win streak and surrendering more than two goals to the Islanders on just three occasions during their 12-1-0 run at home.
That stingy defence has produced a 9-3-1 run for the UNDER in totals betting. However, the Oilers have struggled at times to contain opposing shooters in recent overall contests, allowing 3.57 goals per game and four or markers on four occasions during a current 3-2-2 run.
That is good news for the Islanders, who have scored 4+ goals in four of their past five outings after failing to accomplish that feat in their previous nine contests.
New York Islanders
The islanders erased an early 3-0 comeback with three unanswered goals before squandering their comeback in Tuesday’s loss to the Jets. But with 4.40 goals per game over their past five outings, there is reason to be hopeful about this club’s offensive resurgence, even with Bo Horvat sidelined by injury.
Matthew Schaefer now ranks third on the team with 13 goals. However, the rookie phenom has largely struggled on the road, with his goal on Tuesday marking just his fourth point in his past 12 games away from UBS Arena.
Emil Heineman tallied a goal and an assist to halt a three-game points drought while Mathew Brazal contributed a helper and has picked up a goal and seven points over the past five games.
Edmonton Oilers
Zach Hyman has been a steady contributor on the road this season, and Tuesday night was no different. The veteran forward turned in a second straight multi-point performance with a pair of goals in Nashville after tallying a goal and an assist the night before in Chicago. And while Hyman is off to a slow start at home in 2026 with three straight pointless outings, his recent surge makes him an attractive +155 wager on Thursday’s anytime goalscorer odds.
Leon Draisaitl led the way for the Oilers versus the Predators, potting his 25th goal of the year and adding two helpers. Draisaitl has now compiled five goals and five assists during a five-game points streak and turned multi-point performances seven times while racking up 20 points in 10 home appearances, making him worth back as a -115 wager to record 2+ points on Thursday.
Speaking of multi-point outings, Connor McDavid turned in his fifth in six January contests on Tuesday with a pair of assists, and is worth backing as a value bet to record multiple assists in a third straight game for the first time this season, paying out on +170 odds.
