It definitely was a feeling out process for the Bruins and Carolina. The Hurricanes held a one-goal lead going into the third period of game one, but saw the Bruins strike in the third for the win. Now, the Canes would like to even this best-of-seven series at one before heading home for game three.
Hurricanes vs Bruins Stanley Cup Betting Analysis
The Bruins took two of three games from the Hurricanes during the regular season. Two out of the three games were decided by one game (including an overtime game) the other a two-goal game.
Dating back a couple seasons ago, the Hurricanes are 0-5 in their last five games in Boston, while the home team in this head-to-head series is 8-2 in the last nine games.
Also, the over has been in play when these two teams get together going 7-1-1 in the last nine meetings, including an over total in game one.
Carolina Hurricanes
Don’t take penalties will be one of the concentrations for the Hurricanes in game two. In game one, the visitors saw the home side Bruins go two-for-five on the power-play in the 5-2 loss.
Goaltender Petr Mrazek had his worst outing of the post season since April 20 when he allowed six goals against the Capitals. Look for a bounce back in game two as he’s expected to get the start.
It was an emotional game for Dougie Hamilton playing against his former team. Some would say maybe emotions got the best of him as he took costly back-to-back penalties in the third period.
Sebastian Aho continued his hot hand against the Bruins in game one netting a goal in the loss. During the three regular season games he scored four goals, and three assists against the Bruins.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins struck first in game one, but waited for the third period to do it scoring four goals in the final frame. Marcus Johansson and Patrice Bergeron scored power-play goals 28 seconds apart
The Bruins needed another stellar effort from Tuukka Rask, and he delivered with a handful of timely saves (29 in total) leading his team to a victory.
Veteran David Backes played in only his eighth post season game this season in game one, and made some contributions that didn’t show up on the scoresheet, including beating out two icing calls and being a heavy presence on the puck in the 10:42 of ice time that he played.
Of note, Charlie McAvoy is expected to return to the lineup in game two after serving a one-game suspension. His replacement, veteran Steven Kampfer took advantage of his opportunity to play scoring a goal in only his second post season game of his career.
