Vegas Golden Knights vs. Edmonton Oilers Game 3 Prediction, NHL Odds

A big response from the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday got this series evened up, and it was again the dynamic duo of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid leading the charge. Both players scored twice in Edmonton’s 5-1 victory in Game 2.

Edmonton’s power-play stayed red hot too, converting on three of six chances. They are now five for eight this series. This makes Vegas’ key to winning staying out of the box, but a task easier said than done when all-world athletes like Draisaitl and McDavid are flying around.

Puck drop for Game 3 at Rogers Place Monday is set for 8:30 p.m. ET, with Edmonton a -170 moneyline favourite and the total at 6.5 on the NHL odds.

Golden Knights vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

A six-goal Game 2 made for the lowest-scoring bout in six Golden Knights–Oilers games this season. It was the first time the under was a winner. The scary thing for under siders though is Edmonton is nearly hitting overs by themselves. Across the Oilers last five games they’ve averaged five goals and scored at least four times in all five games.

Edmonton now gets to return home where they are 11-2 in their last 13 games played. Vegas comes in having won 11 of their last 14 road games and went undefeated in two road games last round. Edmonton went 2-0-1 at home last round, with the lone loss their playoff-opener.

Vegas Golden Knights

Laurent Brossoit finished the regular season as Vegas’ starting goalie, and kept that spot in the post-season with Logan Thompson and Adin Hill recovering from injuries. Hill started to dress midway through Vegas’ first-round series but Brossoit kept the crease. Hill made his post-season debut Saturday after coming in for Brossoit who let in five goals on 32 shots.

It’s expected Brossoit will get the start in Game 3, because the real problem the Golden Knights have to solve is discipline. Vegas gave Edmonton another five power-plays in Game 2 and by the time the game was just over halfway done, Edmonton had a trio of power-play goals. Ivan Barbashev scored Vegas’ lone goal in Game 2, the game’s final tally.

Edmonton Oilers

It’s time to start talking NHL playoff records with Draisaitl. The Oilers top winger became the second player in NHL history to scored 13 goals through his first eight playoff games and is now six goals behind the all-time playoff record for goals. And Draisaitl’s 13 goals are almost double of any other skater this post-season. McDavid’s now at five goals and 15 points in the playoffs, good for second in the league in points.

The duo scored two of Edmonton’s three power-play markers in Game 2, with defenceman Evan Bouchard slapping home the third. Bouchard leads all defencemen these playoffs with 14 points and is fourth in the NHL in points. Edmonton’s top guys are at their best right now.
