Cam Atkinson netted two goals, while Sean Couturier, Claude Giroux and Nate Thompson also found the back of the net. Atkinson (6G, 1A) and Couturier (2G, 5A) are tied for the team lead in points. Philly is the second highest scoring team in the NHL this year, averaging 4.6 goals per game. As far as injuries go, Ryan Ellis (undisclosed) and Kevin Hayes (abdomen) both missed last night’s game and likely won’t be ready to go against Vancouver. Martin Jones should get the start in net. Jones stopped 37 of 40 shots faced in his only appearance this year, a 6-3 win against Boston.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks opened the season on a six-game road trip before losing their home opener 3-2 against Minnesota on Tuesday. Thatcher Demko made 27 saves, while Bo Horvat and Alex Chiasson picked up Vancouver’s goals. It looks like Demko has finally emerged as the Canucks’ sole No. 1 goalie, as he has carried the majority of the goaltending load early on. He’s 3-2-1 on the year with a 2.62 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. Demko stopped 31 of 35 shots faced against Philly two weeks ago. Conor Garland and J.T. Miller have led the offence. Garland (3G, 5A) and Miller (1G, 7A) share the team lead in points. Jason Dickinson (undisclosed) is a game-time decision against the Flyers, while Tyler Motte (upper-body), Brandon Sutter (COVID), Justin Dowling (undisclosed) and Brady Keeper (leg) have all been ruled out.
