Anaheim Ducks vs. Vegas Golden Knights Game 5 Prediction, NHL Odds

The Ducks bounced back on Sunday evening with a massive win at home to tie the series up at two games apiece. And after failing on 11 power-plays to open this series versus the Golden Knights, it was a pair of goals on the man advantage that propelled the Ducks to victory in Game 4.

Vegas captain Mark Stone (undisclosed injury) did not suit up in Game 4, and his status is one to monitor moving forward as the Golden Knights need all the depth scoring they can get right now.

Puck drop at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday goes at 9:30 p.m. EDT, with the Golden Knights a -150 moneyline favourite at home and the over-under at 6.5 on the NHL playoff odds.

Ducks vs. Golden Knights NHL Betting Odds

This experienced Golden Knights squad remains the favourite to win this series at -165 odds, with home ice advantage in Game 5 and potentially Game 7 no doubt factoring in. Anaheim is +140 to take the series, while the odds of a seven-game series have now shifted to -105.

The over hit in both Games 3 and 4 in Anaheim, contrary to a pair of 3-1 games to start in Vegas. The under is 6-1 in the last seven Ducks–Golden Knights contests played in Vegas. Anaheim has won just three of their last nine road outings and are 1-4 in five playoff road games. Vegas is taking advantage of their home ice too, winning seven of their last nine at home. And in a potential random, but interesting stat: the under is 7-0 in Vegas’ last seven games played on a Tuesday.

Anaheim Ducks

Cutter Gauthier is still without a goal against Vegas this series, but he’s now left his mark on them with a three-assist night in Game 4. Gauthier recorded the primary assists on Anaheim’s final two goals, including defenceman Ian Moore’s game-winner. More was one of several healthy scratches who entered the Ducks lineup in Game 4, alongside defenceman Olen Zellweger and forward Mason McTavish.

Beckett Sennecke and Alex Killorn netted key power-play goals on Sunday, getting that struggling unit going. Anaheim’s power-play (32.3%) is still the best among teams still in the playoffs but these two goals were the first of the series on the man advantage.

Lukas Dostal had another iffy night in net though, letting in three goals on 21 shots. Dostal’s .874 save percentage in the post-season isn’t super inspiring but head coach Joel Quenneville showed his trust in his goalie by putting him back in for Game 4.

Vegas Golden Knights

Brett Howden is continuing his goal-scoring tear in the post-season, as his seven goals are now tied atop the lead in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Howden’s scored in three of four games this series and is proving to be an important depth piece during this playoff run. Vegas’ depth broke through in Game 4 too, as Tomas Hertl finally found the back of the net. Hertl went into Game 4 with a 29-game goal drought but he cut a deficit to 4-3 with just over a minute to go on Sunday.

Brandon Saad entered the lineup for an injured Mark Stone, which is a big storyline moving forward. Stone continues to be one of the NHL’s most underrated scorers after posting 73 points in 60 games this season. Stone’s status for Game 5 is to be determined.
