Ducks vs. Flames Prediction: NHL Betting Odds
The Calgary Flames opened as big favourites for tonight’s tilt with the Anaheim as they look to fine tune their game before the playoffs. It could use some work, too. Calgary has lost the opening two games of this homestand and goals are suddenly hard to come by for the Flames. Meanwhile, the Ducks are already booking tee times for next month, but are finally clicking after a season of frustration.
Ducks vs Flames Betting Analysis
The Flames will finish the year as one of the best betting teams in the NHL. Right now they have their moneyline supporters up better than five units, while their puckline bettors have banked more than 12 units. They head into tonight’s tilt with a cozy lead atop the Pacific Division with 101 points, with San Jose checking in at 95 points.
Anaheim has been a dumpster fire this year. Ducks bettors (if there any left) would be down almost 17 units on the puckline and nearly seven units on the moneyline. They rank 31st in the NHL in goals for and shots, but come into this one riding a 4-1-1 hot streak.
Anaheim Ducks
This has been a tough year for many of the Ducks, including Rickard Rakell. He scored 34 goals last year and had 33 the year before, but hit a major pothole this season. Rakell has only 15 tallies this year, although he is finally showing signs of life now with four goals in his last three games. You know the offence has struggled when Ryan Getzlaf leads the team with only 47 points and is a minus-20. On the bright side, rookie Sam Steel is coming off the first hat trick of his career in Anaheim’s 5-4 win over Vancouver.
Calgary Flames
Sean Monahan is struggling to stay positive. He had 29 goals in the first 56 games of the season and looked to be on his way to a career year. Then the slump hit. Monahan has hit the back of the net just twice in his last 19 games. Luckily, Calgary usually doesn’t have any trouble lighting up the score board. Monahan is one of five Flames with more than 70 points, with Johnny Gaudreau leading the charge with 35 goals, 58 assists for 93 points. Maybe the Ducks’ leaky defence is just what Calgary needs to get its attack back on track.
