New Jersey Devils vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction, NHL Odds

Riding a three-game losing streak, the New Jersey Devils visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night.

Both squads are outside the Eastern Conference playoff picture as we rapidly approach the mid-way point of the season. There are only two points separating them in the wildcard race, raising the stakes for Tuesday’s game. The Devils currently sit at -120 and the Leafs at -105 on the NHL odds and the total is set at an even six goals. Puck drop from Scotiabank Arena is set for 7:00 PM EST.

Devils vs. Maple Leafs NHL Betting Odds

The Devils beat Toronto 5-2 in their first meeting of the season back in October. The Leafs will have to contain Jack Hughes on Tuesday, who scored three in that game. The OVER has hit in back-to-back meetings. Last season, Toronto swept the three-game season series versus New Jersey. This will be the second of three meetings this season, wrapping up the series in March.

New Jersey’s offence has been struggling over the past two weeks. The Devils scored three in their most recent loss, but were held to two or less in the five games before that. They are 15-21-2 on the OVER/UNDER this season, but played the UNDER in seven of their past 10 games. They are the sixth-lowest-scoring team in the league at the moment.

After back-to-back offensive outbursts, the Leafs came back to reality in their recent game. They have climbed back into the top 10 in offence, scoring 3.26 goals per game. Their effort on the other side of the puck has not been the same though, allowing 3.37 goals per game, fifth highest in the league. Hitting the OVER in 22 of their 38 games this season is the most of any team in the league.

New Jersey Devils

Struggling through the month with a 4-9 record, the Devils are looking forward to flipping their calendar to 2026. They have lost each of their past three games, two of which were one-goal losses.

they managed to get an overtime point hosting the Washington Capitals on Saturday night. The Caps scored the opening goal with less than a second left in the first, which swung momentum in their favour. Jesper Bratt (7th) scored a power play goal to tie it, but Washington would score again in the second period to go ahead before the third. Two goals in 30 seconds gave the Devils their first lead of the game, but the offence would stop there, with the Caps taking the overtime win.

Bratt ended the game with two goals, bringing his total to eight on the season. The Swedish winger is leading the team with 31 points through 38 games, but has been struggling this month, with just seven points in 13 games. He was over a point per game in back-to-back seasons and will need to pick up the pace in the second half to make it three in a row.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs have taken the ice twice since their holiday break, picking up a big win in their return action, beating the Ottawa Senators 7-5 at home. They looked to bring momentum into the second half of a back-to-back on Sunday versus their rival, the Detroit Red Wings. The good times did not last long as the Red Wings would win the game 3-2 in overtime, outshooting the Leafs 36-27 to stop their winning streak at two.

A scoreless first period played in the Leafs’ favour after an absolute shootout the night before. Matthew Knies’ (10th) power play goal broke the ice and put the Leafs ahead in the second period, before a final-minute tally from the Wings would tie things before the third. The teams would trade goals in the third period, before Detroit would complete the comeback with the overtime goal.

Toronto’s leading scorer, William Nylander, did not suit up for the game on Sunday after leaving the previous game with a lower-body injury. His status for versus New Jersey is still up in the air.
