The Vancouver Canucks head out on a four-game road trip this week, they’ll be at home on Monday to host the Detroit Red Wings, who are in the midst of their own road trip. The Canucks have won five of seven while the Red Wings have won three of four, so this is a matchup of two teams that are playing well right now.

Detroit Red Wings vs. Vancouver Canucks

Date: Monday, November 6th, 10:00 PM ET

Location: Rogers Arena, Vancouver, British Columbia

NHL Odds: Canucks -150

NHL Odds and Betting Analysis

The Canucks opened up -140 in this spot but the line has moved around a little bit since then. It’s climbed as high as -160 but come down to -150. As far as the total goes, we saw it open up at 5 -140 but now it has gone up to 5.5 +105. The Red Wings have won four of their last seven meetings with the Canucks, who won 4-1 in Detroit back on October 22nd.

 Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings are 7-7-1 after a 4-0 win in Edmonton on Sunday, are currently 27th in the NHL in goals. Jimmy Howard is having a solid start to the season as he has a 2.53 GAA and a save percentage of .927, but the Red Wings simply aren’t scoring enough goals to help him out. Being on a back-to-back going into this game against Vancouver is worrying as well. They have won their lone back-to-back game this season but are just 15-20 in their last 35 in that scenario. The Red Wings have played 10 of their first 15 games on the road ahead, which adds to the fatigue.

 Vancouver Canucks

The 7-4-2 Canucks snapped a two-game skid after a 4-2 win at home over Pittsburgh on Saturday night, powered by a hat trick from Brock Boeser. Bo Horvath notched a goal and three assists, while Sven Baertschi had three helpers for the Canucks, who also got 37 saves from Jacob Markstrom in goal. The Canucks are floundering offensively as they’re 22nd in goals scored, and 27th on the power play. But the Canucks are also 2nd in goals allowed and seventh in penalty killings, so they can afford to wait until the goals come, if they do. Markstrom is 4-3-2 this season with a 2.23 GAA and a .921 save percentage, while Anders Nilsson has been solid when called upon, going 3-1-0 in four games with a 1.89 GAA and a .943 save percentage. If the Canucks cam continue to get solid goalkeeping, they could be a threat to get back to the playoffs for the first time in three seasons. This is their last home game before going to Calgary on Tuesday, and they’re a decent 3-3-2 at home so far this season. With the day off before this game, they should be good and ready for the Red Wings.

Red Wings vs. Canucks prediction:

Canucks 4-2
