Two five-win teams are set to meet each other, as the Vancouver Canucks are headed to Winnipeg for a meeting with the Jets on Saturday.

The Jets are -136 favourites to win on the NHL odds with a total of 6.5 goals.

Canucks vs. Jets Betting Analysis

The Canucks have had a back-and-forth season, but after struggling early, they seem to be turning things around.  Vancouver has covered in half of their 10 games this season and has hit the over seven times, including three out of four times on the road.

Winnipeg has been dominant over the Canucks, winning 10 straight games against Vancouver and nine straight at home.  Sports Interaction bettors seem to have noticed the trend, as 72 per cent of bettors are back the Jets and 83 per cent are taking the over.

Vancouver Canucks

After a 2-5 start and a brutal beatdown in a three game set with the Montreal Canadiens, things weren’t looking good in Vancouver.  That was, however, until the last place Ottawa Senators came to town.  The Canucks are coming off three straight wins over Ottawa, outscoring the Senators by a combined score of 16-3.  Brock Boeser picked up two goals and an assist in Vancouver’s 4-1 win over the Sens on Thursday and has had a great start to the season.  Boeser is third in team scoring with nine points (6G, 3A), and after burying his 80th career goal on Thursday, he is the fourth fastest player in franchise history to hit that mark.

Quinn Hughes leads the team with 11 points (1G, 10A) and joined a pretty elite list in the Canucks’ 5-1 win on Wednesday.  Hughes has now played 82 career games, or the equivalent of a full season, and his 56 career assists only trail Larry Murphy (61) and Brian Leetch (58) for most assists by a defenceman through their first 82 career games.  Another positive sign for the Canucks is Elias Pettersson’s recent play.  After just one point in his first six games of the season, Pettersson has five points in his last four games, including a goal and an assist in each of his last two games.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets haven’t been the picture of consistency, but they’ve been entertaining to watch and look like they have recently turned a corner.  There’s been no hotter line combination in the league than Winnipeg’s new second line.  Since Andrew Copp joined Paul Statsny and Nikolaj Ehlers, the trio have combined for 20 points over three games, including a combined 10 points in a 6-4 win over the Oilers on Tuesday.  Ehlers leads the team in goals (5) and points (11), Mark Scheifele is second with 10 points (4G, 5A) and Copp and Kyle Connor each have four goals and five assists.  Connor Hellebuyck hasn’t been standing on his head, but he hasn’t needed to.  The 2020 Vezina winner is 4-1-0 with a 2.60 goals against average and .906 save percentage.

Copp’s four point game (2G, 2A) against the Oilers on Tuesday extended his point streak to five games, both career highs.  Ehlers also had a four point (1G, 3A) Edmonton, while Statsny finished with three points (1G, 2A).  Hellebuyck made 22 saves on 26 shots to earn the win.
