The Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers will finish a two-game set at Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon.  The Rangers hammered the Bruins 6-2 on Friday and are looking to complete the sweep.

Boston is a -170 favourite to win on the NHL odds with a total of 5.5.

Bruins vs. Rangers Betting Analysis

Boston has had New York’s number in the last couple of years, as the Bruins have won seven of the last 10 games between these teams, including two of three meetings this season.

The Bruins have been brutal against the spread this season.  Boston is 4-14 against the spread overall and have only covered in one of 12 road games.  The Bruins are completely even on the Over/Under.  They have hit the Over in three of six home games and six of 12 road games.

New York has treated bettors much better than Boston.  The Rangers are 13-5 ATS overall, covering seven times at home and six times on the road.  New York is mainly an Under team, as the Rangers have hit the Under in seven of their last 10 games and 12 of 18 games overall.

Boston Bruins

What’s going on in Beantown?  After a 6-2 loss to the Rangers on Friday, Boston has now dropped four of their last five games.  Outside of the top line of Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron, the Bruins looked lifeless in New York.  The trio combined for five points with Marchand (1G, 1A) and Bergeron (1G) picking up the goals and Pastrnak finishing with two assists.  Marchand’s goal was the 300th of his career.  Bergeron’s goal was the 889th point of his career, passing Bobby Orr for fifth place on the all time Bruins scoring list.  Tuuka Rask made 28 saves in the loss.  Rask is 7-3-1 on the season with a 2.86 goals-against average and .892 save percentage.

New York Rangers

There’s hope that things are starting to turn around in the Big Apple, as the Rangers’ six goals on Friday were the most they’ve scored all season and 2020 No. 1 overall draft pick Alexis Lafreniere picked up his first career assist.  Ryan Strome and Chris Kreider led the way for the Blueshirts on Friday.  Strome finished with a goal and two assists, while Kreider added a goal and an assist.  Strome now has seven points (2G, 5A) over a four game point streak.  Alexandar Georgiev looked solid in net on Friday, stopping 31 of 33 shots faced.  Georgiev has a 3-2-2 record on the season with a 2.81 GAA and .901 SV.
